Kind of like Crosby when Varlamov made the save with the paddle of his stick? But I guess he is not elite either. Or when Ovechkin misses wide open net one timers about twice a game? I guess no one is elite then lol. Thats horrible logic. Elite players are susceptible to missing easy chances just as everyone else is. It happens. It is not like there is some magic switch in a guys head that gets flicked the second he supposedly becomes "elite" and therefore he never misses a chance to score or make a save ever again.

yeah I hate that crap. If I was a coach I'd take whatever players I thought were best regardless of who they are.

I had Duane Sutter as my coach down in FL, and of course his kid was on the team (Brody Sutter). Politics there for sure..but I wont get into the details.
As for Franzen he doesnt have incredible speed because he's such a big guy. But compare him to anyone else his size (Getzlaf gets props as well), and he becomes one of the best all purpose forwards in the game. His stats have been going up every year, and his playoff stats are no doubt elite. Hes an elite player in my book.
