    Vet's Patriotic Stickers Under Fire

    Vet's Patriotic Stickers Under Fire

The 58-year-old former Marine now finds himself under attack by his Dallas homeowners association for displaying seven decals on his vehicle supporting the Marine Corps.

"To me, it's being patriotic, and it shows that I served," the veteran told FOX 4.

The board says the decals are advertisements that violate HOA rules, and must be covered or removed.

Otherwise, the homeowners association for The Woodlands II on The Creek --- where Larimore has lived for eight years --- says in a letter it will tow the car at Larimore's expense. The board also threatens to fine him $50 for any future incident.

Larimore says the decals, ranging from the Marine emblem to Semper Fi slogans, aren't advertisements for anything.

i guarantee there are cars in their neighborhood that have:

    support the police stickers
my kid is in 50 million activities decals
    bumper stickers etc.

he needs to just go around and take pictures of every other car in their neighborhood that has decals and stickers.

and again....I gave 20 years of my life, to protect the rights of a HOA, so they can tell a vet he can't be proud?

and don't foget the HOA director who has the "Chevrolet Dealership" decal on his car...isn't that advertising?

That's simply ridiculous. Home owners associations are typically a joke. I'm glad I don't live where there is one. They seem to be full of people that get on power trips and go around writing people up about a trash can out a day too long, weedy lawns, burnt out light bulbs and so on.

LIke said above, this guys needs to take pictures of any and everyone that has bumper stickers on their cars. He also nees to get out the rule book and take a look at everyone else. Surely most people have some sort of violation... even the jokers that are trying to fine him.

HOAs were created to pay for neighborhood amenities like pools and landscaping common areas as well as keeping people from having live stock and doing other absurd things to their homes to drive down neighbors property values. It seems like now days they just suck more and more money from residents and jump all over them when they have some minor infraction that is completely ridiculous in the first place.

I hope to never live in a neighborhood that has an HOA.

It keeps getting worse. These people are more worried about what their neighborhood looks like than respecting someone who served in the military to give these ungrateful people the right to live free and live in a nice neighborhood and country. Its beyond sad now.

    QFT!!!

We had a lady here in Florida who was being fined $100 a day for flying an American Flag on a pole that was too high according to the HOA. She paid the fine for 3 years - finally a loval news station stepped in and shut the HOA down with constant public attention and not good attention either.

I told my wife when we were buying our house the ONLY stipulation I had was I would not buy in a deed restricted community or a community with an HOA. If I want to paint my house bright neon pink with purple stripes and have a large mouth bass mailbox and a couple broken down cars in the drive way, it's my right my house my choice!!

but this guy did, and he has restrictions and guidelines to follow. They aren't knocking him for what he did for his country, they are knocking him for the added look that it gives to his property. As dumb as it is, it still is a rule that the committee needs to approve any small detail that is on their property.

problem is, to believe he is not being singled out, you would have to believe that there are no other cars in the neighborhood that have decals. As far as I am concerned, there is no difference in him saying he was in the marines as a parent with a decal saying their kid is in dance.
