    psa question

Since BGS grading is tougher, would you pay 275.00 for a psa 9 kobe chrome rookie with free shipping? I was just wondering what you think a psa 9 would grade over at BGS so I can compare.

I've always preferred BGS, but I think $275 for either one of them is too much. Right now, i actually think is a bad time to buy a Kobe Topps Chrome, they are going at redicules prices because it's the playoffs. You could wait in the off-season and get a graded Topps Chrome for like $180.

thanks for the input Jeebus. I did pick a bad time I know, I really want it at this point haha. I have since 96 but if the lakers win the championship you dont think the value will spike more?

Truthfully, coming from a guy who at one point had seven Kobe Topps Chrome cards, I don't think so. Sure, if the Lakers win the Championship, I wouldn't be surprised if ungraded ones begin selling for like $300 again, like they did when they had the 3-peat. But i feel that's only going to last for 1-2 months tops, if you wait until August-October, you should begin finding some at lower prices like $150-$165.

Another reason why I don't feel the Kobe Topps Chrome would sustain a consistent high price like it was during the 3-peat, is because of Lebron James. At the time of the 3-peat, Kobe was really the only star player of the league to collect, so naturally collectors would continue to pay high prices. But now with players like Lebron, Kobe now has competition in the hobby, and many collectors may not choose to pay those high prices anymore like they did in the past.

But, if you have the money, and if you feel it's a nice price, then go for it, but I would go with the BGS one. Hope this helps! ;)

Well, that does seem very high, unless it has perfect centering and it's not faded at all on the surface, i'll probably try to go lower. Also, before I forget, be very very careful when buying ungraded Kobe topps chrome, I'll send you a pm as to why.

PSA 9's usually cross over to BGS 8.5 - 9.
