N.H.L. Referees Calling Fewer Obstruction Penalties
By JEFF Z. KLEIN and STU HACKEL
Published: June 6, 2009
Apart from all the thrills provided by the Detroit Red Wings and the Pittsburgh Penguins, another topic has animated talk around the Stanley Cup finals — the officiating. That is hardly new; hockey fans love to complain about referees, what they call and what they do not call.

Its a no win situation. If there are too many penalties fans complain to let them play. Then when the refs swallow the whistles the first excuse for the losing team is always the refs.

Why I hate being a ref as you never will win. I ref'ed a few junior high games and I definitely hated it. No thanks as it a thankless job. So all those that ref at the lower levels of sports Kudo's to ya.

As long as they are consistent on their calls ( 6 for 1 team & 2 for the other is fine as long as they're legit) , dont miss obvious ones (6 men on the ice 21 sec's),
I think this is the worst officiating I've seen in a few years. I know refs can catch everything.
