    Question about shipping to Canada

Okay, this one is for those of us living in the United States who ship cards to Canada. I was wondering if the United States Post Office offers any kind of tracking for shipping packages from the US to Canada. I have already discussed this with a postmaster and he told me that it is two different countries, so they cannot track it in any way shape or form.

Also, other than the USPS, what is the cheapest/best way to ship to Canada while obtaining some sort of delivery confirmation/tracking number.

This topic had to be brought up because, unfortunately, I sold a card on eBay. It was a Carey Price Scripted Swatches 2nd star #/25. I sold it for $65 on eBay, but may have to give the money back to the eBayer because he/she claims that they have never received the card. It sucks, so I want to make sure I can avoid this in the future.

I'm pretty sure you can send it registered and that comes with a tracking number.

umm, you only sold that may 25th? you're in Pennsylvania, where was the buyer...

i'm in b.c., and i've bought out of Pennsylvania, New Jersey, N. Carolina, and it's been upwards was 3+ weeks before

what day did you ship it?

it's basically coming up to the third week right? depending on where the buyer is, he/she should learn a little patience before claiming they didn't get it

Yea, thats why I'm thinking that he/she is trying to screw me over and quickly get this claim in before they actually do receive the card.

I shipped out the card on May 27th. The card was shipped to Alma, Quebec. I quickly e-mailed them and asked them to retract the dispute and give it another week or two because shipping from the US to Canada can sometimes take up to a month (at least in my past experiences).

Another thing that scares me is the fact that the buyer closed his/her eBay account just days after I shipped the card. And today they pull the dispute card. If they end up winning this dispute, I will be so very angry. Losing a very nice card and $65....

that should send up a red flag in itself... you can ship packages with the USPS via registered mail ( it cost around $10 or $12 if im not mistaken) and it tracks packages to canada

Pretty sure its 12 to have anything tracked anywhere, and not to mention it may just take some time, I have had things coming to me from canada take quite a long time before

That's a load of hooey the buyer is trying to pull - for some reason Alma, QC, sounds familiar to me for a wrong reason. There definitely are methods available to protect yourself with tracking & insurance when shipping to Canada. Registered mail costs $12 and comes with tracking and $100 insurance built in - I think you can get additional coverage at $1.20/$100 insurance. A lot of sellers are protecting themselves by requiring that any item over $50 (some go higher) will be sent with registered mail and thus the buyer incurs a higher shipping cost. For the extra piece of mind (and it works for both parties) it's a wise move that unfortunately has been brought into place moreso because of shady buyers than a truly genuine need for the tracking.

Wow this is horrible guys. Just got off the phone with ebay and found out that the members account has been suspended by ebay as of two days ago. So he really is trying to screw me out of this card.

I will not go down without a fight!!!

If all else fails, I am going to make a post with a picture of the card and the serial number, as it is only numbered to 25. That way maybe the mods could make it a sticky and we could have a card watch out for me!

That's good news that will work in your favour should the situation not be resolved and have to escalate to a dispute. Make sure to cite that phone discussion should it come up that this dirtbag wants a chargeback - if he's been suspended by eBay he's clearly got a very shady reputation. Name & shame!
