I would think Lamar Odom. Good Bigs are harder to find and with Odom's personality you can't really complaint about him. Ariza is good but there are tons of players that can play on the wing. Young players idolize players like Iverson, Kobe and MJ and like to follow there style of playing. When was the last time you heard a young player saying I want to be like Wilt when I grow up?

though I love Odom, I'd have to with Ariza because he is a great defensive player and is coming up big with 3 pointers lately. Odom's back is hurting him more than he is letting on and will probably progress.

No offense (actually I have been a fan of Odom since 1999, Clippers era) but I found these at my HDD.
lol lol

For this topic, I'm not Lakers fan but Lakers has dilemma,IMO.
1) Next year, Lakers has to pay 12 Mil per year to Bynum
2) But Lakers need Odom and Ariza both.
3) But if Odom request same level of the past year salary, there is possible Lakers will not be able to keep Odom.
IF I'm a Owner or Front of Lakers, I really think and think then get Odom.
(If I choose one of them.)
Because Ariza is crazy nice player but look at level of league of these days.
Even Funny Tyson (Rotten cough cough) Food Chandler is useful.
In other words, there are only a few nice big men in this league now.
SO it is harder to get nice big size men than small size nice role player.
I'm not sure there is another player can be substituted (in Lakers System) with Ariza.
But there is James Posey in NOH.
(not exact same type and player but similar.)
But there is no similar or better player can be gotten like Odom in this league.

Starting a new franchise I'd go with Ariza, but trying to stay on top of the NBA world for next year I'd go with Lamar Odom. His versatility causes mismatches. He's too athletic for anyone his size to cover him. Lamar Odom averages a double double when he gets 30-35 minutes a game. I know a lot of people will jump on me for this but Ariza will never be a star in this league. He's a role player right now and he may develop into a semi-star but he'll never be as good as a Lamar Odom in his prime.
