    Question about this card?

    hi,

went to a fleamarket today, found gu and autos for $2 a piece.

i picked up a Jason Kendall Fleer Legacy Tailor made GW swatch.
i looked on ebay to see what they were going for, but the wierd thing is.

i find the card on ebay, but mine has a marker on it in small writing saying
    12/38

    did someone draw it on?
its not engraved, its drawn on.
how can i find the value?

heres the card without the marker

the writing 12/38 is right under where it says tailor made
someone who knows alot about baseball cards please help

Well either it's a weird SP or someone wrote that on there to make someone pay more

Although if that was the plan you would think they would put it up for more than $2

all i can think of its a buyback from some fleer set they made somewhat recently, cant remember what set released them, maybe national pastime, but they just hand numbered some buyback gu and didnt even emboss or anything

It is probably a Fleer buyback since nobody would fake a Jason Kendall. Before Fleer went out of business they dumped all there all stuff into packs as "buybacks" and all they did was write on them with a marker. That is why it is numbered to a weird amount since it was just what they had left over in stock.

that makes sense, but does that make it worth more then an unnumbered one or worth less?

    thanks

Not sure of the value of the card, but being a Jason Kendall collector, I will try to help you with this.

First off, congrats on the find! If it is like mine:
It is from 2005 National Pastime Buyback Game Used. There were about five different "buybacks" for Kendall from that set, and if you look closely at the card it should have Fleer's seal of authenticity imprinted on it as well with the hand numbering. It can't be seen in the scan of mine, but just so you know it is near Kendall on mine. It is most noticeable if you see the word "Fleer" when holding the card at an angle near some light. I have noticed on some that the imprints aren't complete, but "Fleer" is usually complete on them. Again I'm not sure of the value of it, but I hope that with the info I have given that it helps you some.

If it is real it would probably be worth more but if it is fake and somebody just wrote the numbers on there for fun then it would be less.
