    Is grading worth it?

I am considering getting some cards graded at the national by BGS. I know there expensive because I paid $53 to get 2 cards graded by PSA. Do you think getting some RC autos and older RC's graded would be worth it or do you dislike graded cards or think that it does nothing.

its worth it if they come back atleast a 9 or higher on non vintage items. as for the $53 for psa, thats really high, bgs normally runs $10 a card promo's all the time, plus some other sites out there have good deals with bgs if your not in a huge rush for the item back. Id stick to only getting rookie autos graded or vintage rookies. id avoid insert autos and 2nd yr + items.

Good advice. That seems high for PSA. was that w/ shipping. To grade w/ PSA it costs 100 bucks unless you submit at their location in Cali or at certain shows. With the 100 buck membership you do get vouchers for free grading though.

I got them graded at the national in Chicago last year. I plan to get them graded at the national in Cleveland this year.

I prefer any graded card over a raw card. Be it new or vintage. At least you know it will come to and be shipped in something better than two top loaders taped together. And it has been looked over by someone else other than the seller and their uncalibrated grading eye. This is just MO from buying cards over the net. If you are fortunate enough to have a card store to buy cards from where you can examine them in person before you buy, I don't believe grading is as critical. That price you stated also for 2 cards can't be right. There is no way, unless they jammed you, overpricing shipping and ins.

the reason ur paying so much is the on site grading fee, which to me is not worth it unless u actually get something graded that you buy at nationals. if its items u already have, i dont see the point dragging them all the way to nationals to pay more to get them graded, just submit the cards a few days before u leave for ur trip and they will be waiting for you when u come back and u will save alot of $$$$$$.

I'm an old school collector who just recently got back into the hobby. I would not get a card graded, unless it had a value over a few hundred dollars and I was confident in the condition of the card.

I would NEVER get a 1/1 graded. What's the point?
