thats good to see. Damage control. I'm glad he did that. I'm guessing Obama was about as happy as I am about the black caucus sticking it's nose in at the worst possible time. Maybe this **** will just die out. I hope so.

Here is Michael eric dyson on the ED show on MSNBC. MSNBC is, obviously the central Hub of responsible Journalism which is why it is regularly mistaken for SCiFi or Comedy Central.
I think it was great of him, Ed, to use his bully pulpit to shine a spotlight on this essential and critical social matter that many people are not familiar with and not aware of, because it doesn’t affect them. The fact that it affected the most prominent and powerful scholar in the history of America for African-American studies shows that he`s, if you will, the Rosa Parks of racial profiling.
Here’s a guy who doesn’t stir up trouble. He doesn’t go around fomenting controversy. He’s very balanced. He’s as at ease, you know, in white America as he is in black America. Yet he was subjected to arbitrary forms of police, in his estimation and what we may think -- police profiling. It was unfortunate, but it also has helped us understand and grapple with an issue that affects millions of other African-American and Latino men.
I guess this silly comparison works since both Rosa Parks and the incident in cambridge have absolutely nothing to do with racial profiling???????

I just turned on MSNBC for a few minutes. had to turn it off because i thought i was going to throw up if I watched any longer. Guess What. This is all Rush limbaugh and the republicans fault...... They are interviewing Robert Gibbs on the issue in cambridge and the entire conversation was about......Rush limbaugh. I did figure out extremely fast what the talking point of this issue will be. "Teachable Moment" and of coarse Officer Crowley and the police are the ones who need to be taught, not Gates. I cant wait for someone to say the last 8 years or previous administration in reference to this story. We all know it will happen....disgraceful

LOL. that didnt take long. what 30 minutes. Leave it to a guest on the Rachel Maddow show. I didnt catch her name. It really doesnt matter. less than a minute into her conversation about the cambridge police department she mentions George Bush and the previous administration. These People are really Sick. i mean they really need help. Thats not an insult. i mean they need mental health evaluations, medical care, and perhaps Labodomies. apparently a lot of people do if this network is still on the air. WOW!!!!

As one of the percieved "lefty's" on here I have to agree with the majority of the comments that people have posted. The President should have simply said, "No comment - I don't have all the facts" when asked about this situation.
Obama also should have taken the opportunity today to apologise to the cops for the "stupidly" comment. From what I've read, the cop didn't do anything wrong, as his boss, the chief of police (a black man) pointed out yesterday. Please feel free to message me here about my electronic bay & COMC listings

Wow. Thats great Matt. I really havent seen much perspective as far as left or right on this issue. i have seen the networks attempt to make it a left and right issue. I kind of fell into that and assumed it would be a left and right issue. Im glad I was wrong. This should just be a right and wrong issue. The only political issue is that Obama shouldnt have said anything. Im glad to hear that.
Thanks

I've voted for Obama and I find his reaction to this incident inappropriate. He made a mistake and then failed to appologize for his remarks. IMO he turned this into an "us" v. "them" argument when that was clearly not the issue.

Sounds like the mayor is more racial then the officer. Do you think the mayor would have acted differently if the officer was black? I think so. Do not look for the opportunity to be called a racist, or tho call someone a rasist. Only if we were blind (color blind) if a situation did arise. As far, as the president needs to hold his tongue, even though he gives a great speech.

actually Obama has made a statement about his comments at the press conference.
I want to make clear that in my choice of words I unfortunately gave the impression that I was maligning the Cambridge Police Department and Sergeant [James M.] Crowley specifically. I could have calibrated those words differently. I told this to Sergeant Crowley. I continue to believe that there was an overreaction in pulling professor Gates out of his home and to the station. I also continue to believe, based on what I've heard, that professor Gates overreacted as well.

Now we know that the 911 tapes will confirm that the caller never mentioned race and that she herself is not white. This means that there are 2 Racists in this case. gates obviously is full blown Racist. Using the standards that are used against white people, Obama would certainly be considered a Racist as well. The White House and Obama continue to dig a hole with this teachable moment crap. Apologies are owed and responsibility needs to be taken, mainly by Gates.
