Cards shops in Kingston, ON?
Tomorrow I'm heading to Kingston, ON and would love to stop in a hobby shop. I came across a little shop downtown on Princess St. about a year ago, but they hardly had any hockey and was filled with comic books and people playing their fantasy card games (or whatever it is).
Any help would be appreciated!

There's a little shop less than a block North of Princess, on Sydenham Street I believe. They have a few singles, and a little bit of wax. They also sell old records and stuff, if that's of any interest.
There's also supposed to be a place called Gameface, out in the west end, but I've never been able to find.

As bidds55 said, there is a shop downtown which is on Montreal street (not sydenham but close.)
They're called Action sports card, or Lu's Sports cards (I think?), located at:
32 MONTREAL st., Kingston, ON.
They change their name every couple of years and move around. The owner is called Al, but you may meet his younger employee, called Jeff. Lots of singles, some very limited loose packs and a couple of boxes. Some comics and some records/DVDs. I don't know what to say about them. They used to have way more singles, but now... I think they cater to clients wants and their prices won't beat e-Bay, nor will you find many hard to find items. They're interesting to stop at, but hard to justify spending your money.
There is a dedicated Hockey card vendor (two actually) at the local flea market located way the heck across town. They have lots of singles, very negotiable prices and some real deals/steals to be had. Go here:
Collins Bay Flea Market
(613) 389-2227
666 Collins Bay Rd
Kingston, ON , K7M7E9
Are they open on Wednesday? No. Hours are: Thurs to Sun, Closes at 5pm on weekends.
Now, if you don't mind the presence of Comics around, there are two comic stores you can visit:
4 Colour 8Bit Comics & Games - 613-542-1200
348 Princess Street , Kingston , ON K7L 1B6
This is a nice new store that opened up recently (within the last two years). Its kind of the 'hip' place for the younger comic collectors to go. They have some wax (mostly retail, but some hobby wax), and one of the few places that sell loose packs and within walking distance to the place on Montreal
The last is:
Action-Packed Comics - 613-547-5730
728 Princess Street , Kingston , ON K7L 1G2
This is the old established comic store. I think its been around for like 8+ years. Has tons of back issues, probably less than 30 hockey cards on display and they also sell wax. The owner isn't particularly nice to new customers IMO, and one of his employees (the better one who was more dedicated to customer service to any customer, not just established customers), left to 8-bit downtown.
If you only have a bit of time on Wednesday, I suggest Lu's Sports cards first, then 8-bit then ACtion-packed comics. If you like comics as well, then I suggest Lu's first, then ACtion-packed, then 8-bit. Any day that the flea market is open, I suggest them first, but again, they're way across town.
Hope that this helps. If you need to know anything else about Kingston, PLMK.
Cheers,

Wow, thank you very much you guys! reoddai, thanks for also letting me know about the Collins Bay Flea Market because I wasn't sure if they would be open. A few weeks ago my girlfriend went there with one of her friends and she told me that she saw a few dealers in there, but I couldn't find their hours on the internet anywhere.
I will check out one or two of the places. I just remembered that I also want to find a plastic sleeve to store a magazine in since I bought one of the special edition Michael Jackson Time Magazine. Want to make sure it's safe for a long long time.
Thanks again, and if I break anything, it will be posted as usual in the pack/box breaks.
Cheers,
Andrew

reoddai: Are you from Kingston!? I was born and raised there - only moved to Kitchener just over a year ago.. but you obviously know the city well and have described the shops to a T.
Lu's Sportscards (owned by Al) was my favourite sport since he opened.. I've gotten to know him and the crew fairly well and they are all great people and always fair. You're right though - he has moved around a fair bit, usually due to rent prices and trying to find a suitable shop with the right clientele. Last I heard he was located on Princess at the old Zap Records by McD's and St. Mary's... but that was back in Feb. so who knows where he is now!
The Collins Bay flea market folks are great too, but it was more difficult for me to visit (further away from home) which meant I didn't get to know them as well... and as for the others (comic shops, etc.) I would really only visit if the others were closed! lol
Anyways.. just wanted to toss in my two pennies and see if you're actually from Prison City!

The shop at 32 Montreal is the one I thought was on Sydenham. It's owned by Al (as referenced in BrokenHalo's post),formerly of Lu's, Action Sports Cards(?), and Zap Records. That shop is now called Record Breakerz.

Al and Geoff setup at the Toronto Card Show regularly and I can attest that they are good dealers.

Well I went and found a couple of shops. Thanks for the info everyone. The first place I foudn was "4 Colour 8 Bit" on Princess. Overall not a bad place and the guys in there were extremely helpful. The second one I went to is (I'm assuming) lu's Sportscards on Monreal St. When I drove by, I didn't see a sign for a card shop, so I parked the car and my other and I were walking down when she noticed it. Again, not a bad place. The guy inside looked very familiar. I think I might have seen him at a couple of shows in Peterborough a year or two ago.
Again, thanks for the help guys. If there are a few of us in the Kingston and Belleville areas, it might be fun to arrange a trade night somewhere.

Yeah, both of the ones I went to are close to the K Rock Centre. For me it's all within walking distance, but if you don't feel like walking, there is some parking along Montreal and Clergy St. which is right close to both shops.
