    The one that got away!!!!

So I'm out at my favorite fishing hole, cast out and feel the hit as soon as the jig hits the water. As I start reeling this monster in he decided to flip out of the water and give me a show. I try wearing him out but he has a lot of fight in him and hurles in the air one more time. As I get this monster largemouth bass to the the dock I regret not brinning my net. After I feel he is tired out I slowly reel him to the surface and bend down to grab his mouth. As soon as I am about to touch his mouth he give one more leap for freedom and breaks the line. This was my once in a lifetime catch, he was a good five pounds, probably more. The type you hang above a fire place. I felt worse than going through my divorce. This fish haunts me in my dreams.

Same thing happened to me, except i caught mine LOL. Im actually going to upload the pic to my bucket now if anybody wants to see it. it was a small mouth, but still pretty big. Also on another note, the time before i caught this fish right when i threw my lure in something snatched it (had a pike lure, so im pretty sure it was a pike lol). But sure enough it broke the line, so in some ways i feel your pain! lol. thanx :)

Oh man, that's tough...it was "this close" to being a conversation piece, but instead, it's only a memory...makes a pretty good "fish story", though!

I caught a 12lb bass and as I got it to the dock, I grabbed my rod about half way down it to lift his head to the surface so my buddy could lip it and my All Star rod snapped about a ft. from the end fortunately my friend had a hold of it...And I do have a pic of the fish you can see on PM request..The good thing about all star rods is, I sent them a picture of the fish and rod and they sent me a voucher through e-mail for another $150.00 rod. I went to Academy picked up a brand new rod to replace one that I had for 10 years....No this is not a paid advertisement....lol

I remember when I was a kid, I had this big big big flounder.... Biggest flounder I've seen til this day. Of course, me being 6, I can't pull it up. I called my dad, but I ****** him off after getting the line stuck several times. He walked slowly, but ran when he saw the flounder. Of course... it was too late. :(

Off topic, but.... I wonder if I could have caught anything weird if I went to Galveston after Hurricane Ike.

I had to go down there a week after the hurricane to check our pipeline. Unbelievable!...The trash and stuff was still all over the place. Yea, I think you could have caught anything from a dead fish to an aids riddled hypo-needle. There were fish in the trees and stuck to chain link fences.
