Venezuela prepares to sever ties with Colombia
Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez said Tuesday that he is preparing to break off diplomatic relations with Colombia over the neighboring country’s plan to allow American troops access to its military bases.
“It is going to happen,” Chavez said in a state broadcast. “We are going to prepare for this, because the Colombian bourgeoisie hates us. And now, it just isn’t possible to make up. No, it is impossible.
“The agreement of the seven bases is a declaration of war against the Bolivarian Revolution,” Chavez added, referring to his socialist political movement, which he named after 19th-century Venezuelan leader Simon Bolivar.
Relations between the two countries have been tense since Colombia entered into negotiations with the United States to allow U.S. troops to operate from seven bases.
Colombia says the troops will tackle drug traffickers and leftist guerillas. And the United States says it needs the bases because Ecuador has ordered the closing of a U.S. installation there.
Chavez says the troops have an ulterior motive: They could be used to unseat him.
This situation is getting worse and worse...and Chavez might be just crazy enough to cause major problems.

I think Chavez is a little paranoid. I would be too with all the anti-American rhetoric he has been spewing over the past 5 years...I don't see how Venezuela can exist without food, goods and trade from Columbia, unless the Russians are going to take care of all their needs. This sounds cold war-ish era type stuff to me...I still do not see how the US government has let this guy and his offshoot companies come over here and set up shop, continue to buy his oil and ignore his rhetoric. The citizens of this country have gotten wise and even though the government does nothing about this igit, the people have quit buying his gas and patronizing his stores. They may not want to admit it, but the citizens of this country are a bit smarter than it's government!

.......Not anymore. some of the hollywood left love Chavez. You really think Obama is going to act on this guy. Not a chance, Chavez knows it too. All of our enemies know it. Using and relying on the far left, media, and hollywood is a tactic that America's enemies have been using since Vietnam. Chavez took part in and provoked the Bush bashing here in America, but he didnt do too much because he knew that the media and public perception didnt affect Bush's policies and decisions. Same with a lot of other figures around the World. Obama is the exact opposite.

No I dont' ... in fact no one will even know where it will come from. That's how it works my friend. It will be made to look like a Military Coup, or a plane crash, or an auto accident. I don't think Obama is going to actually fly to Venezuela and take out Chavez himself, nor do I think it would be the US Army, Airforce, etc ... like I said it will be covert and/or completely an "accident"
