08-09 UD ultimate collection question
the card seen here:

is from this year's ultimate collection. Hoopsman had mentioned to me that he thought only the ones #/150 were "true RC's". If that is the case would anyone mind elaborating for me and if so shouldn't there be the "NBA rooke card logo" like there are for the Topps Products?
And how is it an insert in the Rookie year of a player isn't a rookie card insert? (ie youthquake)
Thanks,
Travis

This is not an insert. This is the true rookie card. Upper Deck didn't put it on there presumably because it just wouldn't fit the design of the card and would look really ugly IMO.

Alright cool - are there ones from this set that are #ed higher then 150 that aren't true RC's? And yea I figured it would make it look ugly, but that logo is on the SPA auto/jersey RC's and those SPA's look real nice

ahh alright cool, thanks for the info - do the parallel's not count as "true RC's" then?

well technically the #/60 version is a Parallel since the Background is Silver Vs Gold like the True Rookie #/150 so its not a true rookie even though everything looks the same, and theres also a #/10 version with a patch.
And for your second question....True rookies are what is in the BASE set anything outside of the Base set is considered a Insert/Parallel Etc the only other title you can use would be Rookie year Insert/Parallel etc.Collecting All Current Las Vegas Raiders, Carmelo Anthony, Ken Griffey Jr, Bo Jackson, Frank Thomas.
plus many more, Also any Legend or HOF raider players as well.
Just getting back into the Hobby so not much tradebait but have some stuff just let me know what your looking for and i will see what i have, No trade List Available yet but i am working on one.

awesome - thank you for the info..I guess I'm asking, let me try to use a better example...in 96 Chrome, you have the Kobe base, which is considered a RC, then you have the Youthquake Kobe, which is from the same set and still from his rookie year, but that is not considered a RC?
i've heard of such examples from recent memory such as the Durant SPX winning endorsements...
so I guess in pertaining to the Ultimates, they would all be considered RC"s then since they are the same card

the Word Rookie is pretty Vague, all cards from a players rookie year are "Rookie Year" cards, True Rookies is only within the Base set weather it be a auto/jsy or just a reg card but it must be in the base set to be a True Rookie, Anything else even if its from the same set its considered a Parallel or Insert..
The SPX Durant Winning Endorsement is a Insert Auto, Only the Auto/Jsy in the base set is his True Rookie from that set, and The Kobe Youthquake is also considered a Insert because its not part of the base set but people will call it a rookie because of the Year, same goes with ultimate, they are all considered rookie's because of the year but the only true rookie is the #/150 version.
let me break it down a little bit here...
Lets say you pull a checklist for 1996-97 Topps Chrome, the base set would consist of 220 cards, Kobe's Topps chrome rookie would be listed As card #138 of the 220 complete set listing, YouthQuake has a 15 card complete set checklist and his Card # is YQ15 and this is a Insert Set so i hope this helps you out.Last edited by XxViSiOnxX; 08-26-2009 at 11:55 PM.
