09/10 Topps jumbo hot box! ... sort of

My first time busting any basketball, and I have to say I quite enjoyed it. It's my favourite sport, I just never gravitated over after I started baseball a while ago. Anyway:

    Hits:
Shane Battier Roundball Remnants Patch #/50
Tracy McGrady All-Star Quad Jersey #/100
Chris Bosh All-Star Dual Jersey #/199
    David West Rounball Remnants Jersey
    Magic Johnson Championship Material Jersey

    Chrome:
    Mo Williams Gold Refractor #/50
    Hedo Turkoglu Refractor #/500
    Al Thornton Refractor #/500
    Michael Redd Refractor #/500
    Yi Jianlin Refractor #/500
    Tyreke Evans RC #/999
    Andre Iguodala #/999
    Amare Stoudemire #/999
    Dwyane Wade #/999
    Shaquille O'Neal #/999
    Joe Johnson #/999
(They were all slightly warped for some reason. No other cards were - just chrome. Odd...)

    Gold:
    Blake Griffin RC #/2009
    DeMar DeRozan RC #/2009
plus a whole stack of others I can't be bothered listing

    and...

    Lebron James Black #/50

    Draft Snapshot:
    Derrick Rose
    Kevin Garnett
    Marcus Camby
    Shaquille O'Neal
    Dwight Howard
    Patrick Ewing
    Larry Johnson
    Tracy McGrady
    Lebron James
    Tim Duncan

So, no auto which I was pretty bummed at, but 5 hits all up instead of the 4 I was promised (I half count the Lebron black as a hit as well, which makes 5.5) so I guess I can't complain much about that. I also didn't get the 2nd part of the checklist, which ended up annoying me more than I thought it would when I was sorting through and seeing what I could have gotten as far as GU goes. Usually I'm overwhelmed with checklists when busting flagship boxes but not this time. And I guess I'm old school in that I like to collect cool inserts just as much as I do base, but the draft snapshot wasn't great for me so it's disappointing that's all there is. As good as chrome and the golds look (especially chrome - it looks a heap better in basketball pics I have to say) I don't have the desire or patience to put either of those whole sets together. I at least like how they didn't go with the exact same design as baseball (even if it's in the same vein) because I'm pretty sick of that at this stage. As far as base went: 294/330 - 89.1%, with 126 doubles. That's a little annoying, as I was under the impression a jumbo should give you the whole base set, but I've never busted one in baseball either so I could be wrong there. Oh well, everything I listed is for trade, and scans of the hits are below:

Pretty nice break! As for the chromes being a bit warped, that's how chrome cards are - I'm not sure why, exactly, but every chrome card I have ever had has been slightly warped/bent/curved...probably the card stock they use...so, it's normal ;-) Anyway, congrats on the nice break!

I thought it might be that, but I went and had a look at the few baseball chromes I have in my PCs and they're quite straight. Whether they've been forced that way after sitting under stacks of toploaders for months I'm not sure, but I don't remember them being warped when I got them. It really doesn't bother me at all, I was just curious I guess.

Another thing I just noticed is that the Battier Patch must be from his Grizzlies days. He hasn't played for them for over 3 years so Topps must really be clearing out the stock if that's made an appearance.

    Hmmm, no autograph? That's odd.

You can't complain, because the stuff you did get is pretty awesome.

    Nice Break.
