problem with ebay/paypal
Recently purchased a joe namath rookie after I asked the seller if he guarantees its authenticity. He said yes I asked him again before i paid for it and he said it was genuine. I put it on ebay with the intended though if it being authentic. Sold it and the buyer now filed a dispute about the card is a fake. I am stick between and rock and a hard place. What to do? any suggestions?

You are very much screwed in this case. Paypal almost always sides with the buyer no matter what in situations like that. Sorry man.

Im not sure, right now, you don't have the Namath so it would be hard to prove anything as of right now. The buyer who bought the card off you will have to send it to BGS to have them grade it as a fake, then send it back to you before they get a refund from paypal (you). Maybe you could then take it to the seller you bought it from and do something after you have it back from your buyer (it will be in a bgs topleader with a questionable authenticity sticker on the back).
I speak from experiance because when I was younger, I bought a fleer jordan rc ungraded from a seller who said 100% the card was real, only to find out it wasnt and paypal made me go though a bunch of BS to get my refund.

I went through the same thing, but talking with paypal you have 30 days until you can dispute, also you can take it to local dealer and have them verify that it's a fake, need to get a letter from them or their phone #, paypal will call.

Yea, they told me either BGS or a local dealer, problem was I had no local dealer who does that sort of thing. It's never a good situation if a card is a fake. It just takes so much time, money and stress.

so should I call the police about it? I think the ebay buyer would need to get the card graded in order to win the dispute/claim.

Calling the cops won't hurt, but it might not help, either. I know I tried that with a counterfeit Patrick Roy OPC rookie, and the Minneapolis police basically told me that it was my problem, and they weren't interested in even looking into a "online issue". It's tough to say how your local cops might respond. Good luck.

I don't know, some police departments may not even take the call with an open mind. You would have to get lucky IMHO.

I would send the buyer a message through paypal stating that it needs to be graded if they doubt the genuinity of the card. You need to take into account that people play these games for a free card all the time. Just make sure you send all your correspondance through paypal messages so that paypal have record that you told him to have it graded. On the police note, I am not sure about where you live. But in Australia they would just laugh and say they dont have the resources to be chasing counterfeit cards. Hope it all work in your favour
