Anyone Who Knows About Cats... PLEASE HELP!!!
Ok.. so about 5 days ago, i got a new cat!! he is about 8 weeks old. his name is ALEX

he's awesome... but my girlfriend noticed that he breathes really fast.. especially when he's asleep... like right now, his breath patterns go from fast to slow, then fast again..
does anyone know why? or if this is a bad thing?
my girlfriends kittie is a girl. his sister. BUT she doesnt breath like he does...

1st I would try a non sports card forum for the answer.

When the cat is sleeping I wouldn't worry about it as they have REM sleep patterns like we do.
Being he is a kitten he should be fine.
Beu seriously do a Vet search on google and go to one of those forums.
Here is the 1st google result

Not a big deal at all....every cat is different. I've been around cats all my life, and certain ones breathe like that when they're sleeping, others don't. I have an orange one right now, who, when sleeping, breathes so fast you'd think he just got done running a marathon. Plus, cats dream just like we do, so sometimes their heartbeat will speed up/slow down according to their dreams.
Don't worry about it at all.

I have 2 cats and one of them has a breathing issue. Ralph (my oldest who is almost 4) has the problem and when he sleeps his breathing becomes very pronounced and the longer he sits and the deeper he begins to sleep he actually begins to snore. I have asked the vet about him and they have checked him out and he is fine.
I wouldn't worry about it as it is just happening during sleep. If he acts like that when he's just sitting around and hanging out, then I'd be taking him to a vet pronto.
by the way, he's a cutie..

This may sound gross but take a q-tip and damp it alittle squeeze the extra water out and gently wipe around his nostriles and see if it is colored (Ive seen a few cats who had breathing issues because there was build up) I would call a vet and see what they say , may save you a trip and a little money.
