Walmart Card Searching in Toronto Area...

Just be aware that if your buying cards at Walmart in the Toronto area that there seems to be people who are searching the boxes, re-shrink wrapping them with non upper deck wrap and then returning them again to Walmart minus all the good cards.

If you are buying make sure there's an UPPER DECK shrink wrap on the box, the ones I bought were Montreal centennial and were missing all the banners....I returned everything back and explained to the store that their boxes were being searched but that's not to say they will do anything about it.

Be careful out there...looks for the Upper Deck wrap...

At my local walmart people were actually taking packs and graded cards out of the box and leaving the empty box right there.

If the Upper Deck wrap is on the tin does not guaranteed it not being searched. My tin had Upper Deck wrap and all the packs had the bottom opened. I will never purchase from Walmart again.

i dont know why you guys are buying cards from walmart to begin with, they gouge you on the prices and all they have is crap anyways. go to a hobby shop, a good one that i go to is at finch and brimley called dollys gifts and crafts. by the way i am in no way affiliated with them, ive just been going there for the past 10-11 years, they have good prices and the family who runs it are very nice.

I was at the Walmart at Lawerence and Keele on the weekend. Their tins are held together with that clear packaging tape, lol.

Find a hobby shop, better hits with the Hobby Brand.

The age old debate of hobby vs. retail....while buying hobby is a better value, not everyone has access to hobby stores. There are none near me where I live in Iowa and sometimes you just have the itch, so retail is the only way to go. I have noticed several people at the local Target searching through the cards and I always call them out, they quickly scamper away...and they are ALWAYS grown men. My Walmart does not carry many cards so I never go there. My local Kmart does carry cards and they discount them often. I can ususally pick up boxes for anywhere from 4.99 to 9.99....

I just don't understand why they don't change their return policy and not allow for sports cards to be returned.....and buying from a Hobby Shop doesn't ensure safety either...some hobby stores pull the same stunts...

wow thats funny, I'm in Owen Sound and I found this hapened with 2 boxes of champs blasters and a box of hot prospects, and I bought a blaster in brampton of UD series 2 and they also were searched and opened packs. I'm just glad wallmart has a "we will take anything back policy" I think the problem is not wallmart stores, I think somebody is searching at a distribution warehouse. my favourite was opening a box of champs and finding 1990/91 upper deck cards.

I've gotten some sweet pulls from wally word! 2 Toews fleer redemption, carey price artifacts redemption, luke schenn YG and metal x, malkin UD high gloss, Gretzky Team Canada OPC retro and Oilers retro, 3 stamkos YG's I just wait tell they get marked down to $10-15 a box.
Yes the single retail packs are a bit overpriced but the blasters can be worth it.
