I am starting this up
Let me here what you guys think on this...In the hobby today..If you are postive that you are suppose to get 4 hits in a box, dont you guys think they should insert at least one high end autograph in a box everytime?Or even every 2 boxes.. I am sick of it everytime I buy a box with 4 hits in it, I always get crap and never pull anything amazing..I wind up buying a higher end autograph on ebay and saying thats the pc then it coming out of a box I bought...Yes I know its a chance thats why you buy boxes to get those big name autographs...But they should stop putting out all theese no name autographs and put 1-2 autographs or a nice patch in a box...It sucks when you get 3 plain jersey cards and a 5-12.00 autograph that no one wants....Let me see what you people think....This is my opinion, so I could be wrong but lets hear yours..... Thanks for reading ......

To be able to guarantee (or at least claim) that there will be a decent number of "hits" per box, they have to include the scrub autos. The cost that these companies pay the athletes per auto is outrageous, so there is no way they could afford to put 1-2 "nice autos" per box. They have to have enough overall autos to complete the product and unfortunately for people who enjoy busting wax, that means a considerably lower likelihood of pulling a higher end auto.
This is why I only buy singles - every package I open has exactly what I want inside.

I hear that brother. Its the best way. Rather pay more for the one card I want, then spend it on a box and get no namers that no one wants

The value in an average box + company's profit = cost of the box. You have to go into it realizing you are going to lose X% of every dollar you put into buying a box of cards.
It's just like playing a slot machine in a casino. Sure there are people that make money in the short term by playing slot machines; but in theory, every dollar you put in is a loser.
Unless you are okay with chalking up the poor return on investment in terms of strict value to the value you gain in treating opening boxes as a hobby (ie enjoyment of and time spent on trading/buying/selling), then you shouldn't be buying boxes.
Finally, if you put more "quality" autographs in the products (like you propose) the demand for those "quality" autographs will decrease along with the value. So in essence, if companies followed your advice, your problem would become circular. You're back at square one with too many autographs with too little value that no one wants.

One problem with that...the no-names you are pulling now may turn out to be the All-Stars 3 years later, and the big names you aren't pulling now may turn out to be flops! There is no guarantee. Just because the hits suck the month the product releases doesn't mean that those same hits from the same product are going to suck in three years, and vice-versa.

Agreed. People were probably upset when they pulled a Romo or Brady rookie autos and look at them now. Just like people that were paying a lot of money for Couch, Smith, Russell and now they dont sell for nearly as much as they used to.

I think Absolute has done a good job this year with value for money, have seen roughly 50 boxes opened and the majority has been good.

Even the threads and classics from panini this year have been good. I haven't opened any absolute yet but it all depends on what you buy I guess.
