Just refust to do it. Paypal will back you if you send it as a purchase, if you sent it as a gift, and never get your stuff, there is no dispute for them to fight, b/c, you gave them the $ as a gift.

If you don't trust them and they have under 20 feedback ask them to send first. When I bought my last ap rc auto on here and the seller wanted the paypal sent as a gift he sent first and had no problem with that since he was new. I think it's only a matter of time and paypal will take away the gift option, they will realize business is as usual but they aren't making any money off fees.

by SCF rules, people with under 20 feedback should send first, unless i know someone well or its a really low dollar amount i wont send as gift, however is someone is willing to send first i have no problem sending after as a gift

PayPal only backs purchases made thru eBay. I worked a dispute where a guy sent quite a bit of money and when he filed a claim and called them they said that the person had drained their PayPal account and they only tap into the checking account associated with the PayPal account for eBay purchases. In other words, 100% Buyer Protection only applies to eBay.
So regardless of sending gift or regular, if they drain their PayPal account and you file a claim, you get nothing.
The only way that sending non-gift helps you is if they still have the money in their PP account when you file the claim.

i tried using the gift option once and it told me to pay the fees or to choose to send fee's to seller. so i havnt seen it without fees. but its rather pointless because do you really trust anybody online that much? if it comes down to it though to protect yourself just use a credit card. if something legitimately oes wrong you can go through your credit card company over paypal
