First BCS Poll Released - Opinions?
Hey guys, the first BCS poll of this college football season has officially been released. What are your thoughts? Any surprises or rankings you disagree about?

No real surprises here. I do, however, love how on my Facebook, all my OSU fan friends are appalled that they're ranked 19th in the BCS. Well yes, that's what happens when you lose to a 1-5 team the day before the BCS poll comes out.
What do you think?

I'm an OSU fan and I can't argue w/ 19 after the loss on Sat. Good teams don't have 4 turnovers and lose to a 1-5 team.
I heard Holtz say that their isn't a true No.1 and I agree. Each of the top three teams have not looked dominant.

I'm glad that you can admit that. I respect you for that.
And I agree with Holtz as well. However, over the next few weeks we might see a #1 emerge. Florida has it pretty easy til they play SC, but 'Bama has Tennessee and LSU coming up, and depending on how they play in those games, they could move up or down. Texas has OK State coming up but they've got it pretty easy til Kansas comes to town in November.

Ohio State can't say anything about any ranking they receive...they lost to Purdue, 'nuff said.
The one thing I don't get is Boise St and Cincinnati being ahead of Iowa.
Boise St has beaten Oregon and no one else. Their opponents are a combined 18-20 in the PAC 10, WAC, MAC, C-USA, and Great West. Four of them are at or below .500.
Cincinnati has beaten Ore St and S Fla and no one else. Their opponents are a combined 17-20 in the Big East, PAC 10, OVC, WAC, and MAC. Three of them are at or below .500.
Iowa has beaten Arizona, Penn St, Michigan, and Wisconsin. Their opponents are a combined 30-16 in the Big 12, Big 10, PAC 10, MVC, and Sun Belt. Only one team they've played is below .500...only 2 are under .667.
That doesn't add up to me.

I agree with you, Darren. I was impressed with Iowa in our loss to them and think they should definitely be ranked higher than the other two.

I think Alabama is the best team right now. I think Texas has been overrated this year. Of the top 3 teams, I think Bama has the best chance to win.

Schools won't do it, especially not with the kind of money they are getting with the current system.
