In all fairness, it's been proven that it's a LOT harder to spell on chalk boards, black boards, or dry-erase boards. Many words that one can easily spell from a bird's eye view can be stumbled over when writing at the same level.
Aside from that, I'm with the majority who believes he's a bit over-the-top.
