Canes Ink Legace
Jim Rutherford, President and General Manager of the National Hockey League's Carolina Hurricanes, today announced that the team has agreed to terms with goaltender Manny Legace (LEH-gah-see) on a one-year contract. The deal will pay Legace $500,000 on the NHL level and $105,000 on the American Hockey League (AHL) level.

Makes me wonder if they expect Cam to be out more than the 3 to 4 weeks that they said he would be out.

I believe they said 4 weeks was the minimum... and he was kept in the hospital for an extra night for precautionary reasons (they didn't want infections).
Being one of the worst teams anyways, I guess they figured they shouldn't mess around at a crucial time with a back-up goalie.
Good luck to Legace!!

I would think Carolina will take their time with Ward and not rush anything. Thankfully it was only on Ward's leg and not a much more serious skate injury.
On another note, with this year's injuries to many teams it will be interesting to see how it affects the standing.

Good point. If star players keep getting injured like they are, the olympics will be played by junior players again. <--That's my attempt at a joke.

Just a thought here....
Do you think there is a connection between the number of injuries so far this year and the fact that this is an Olympic year?

Just yesterday I was checking AHL rosters to see where he was at; guess I know where he is at now.

Great point and I think it is a very valid point.l collect Philadelphia Eagles (NO VICK CARDS), Philadelphia Flyers, Philadelphia Phillies, Detroit Pistons, Detroit Tigers.

I think it a good band aid for the short term until Ward can come back.
