    WEEK 13 WRAP

The final games of the regular season and a few fireworks at the end. Nothing less than a competitive end to a very competitive season!

    Recap of the Match ups

EFFECT!! @ Novacaine - One of the close games with major playoff implications, the Truckers needed a win to get into the playoffs and the Novacaine was trying to lock up the #2 seed. The Truckers had a 93-90 lead going in to MNF and Rodgers v. Flacco. Rodgers 24, Flacco 5, Novacaine W, Truckers L, Novacaine #2 seed, Truckers consolation bracket.

Dwarves @ Pillagers - The Dwarves were vying for the #2 seed or at least trying to hold on to #4. The Pillagers were just looking to play spoiler. Apparently the Dwarves feel comfortable with the #6 seed, as they left DeSean Jackson in the lineup even after he had been declared out on Friday or Saturday. Replacing him w/Bess would have gotten the win. As it was, they needed ol' Willis McGahee to post a 10 in MNF. He did score a TD, but had 4 total rushes for -4 yards, so no 10. Dwarves drop to #6. DeSean takes home the Worst Start of the Week award...DeAngelo was left in a starting lineup after being declared out as well, but DeSean was declared out on either Friday or Saturday, not Sunday morning.

    • PABS!!! @ Stratusfaction - This was the game to decide the last playoff spot. Stratusfaction win and they're in, lose and PABS or Truckers take it. LA apparently wasn't watching Sunday morning when DeAngelo was declared out, as he still started. In the end, replacing him wouldn't have made a difference...Mason Crosby needed to outscore Greg Jennings by quite a bit on MNF and he didn't do it. Stratusfaction falls out of the playoffs and PABS waltzes in with the Truckers loss to the Novacaine. Not only do they sneak in, but with the Dwarves loss, they jump up to the #4 seed.

Hellbillies @ Blunts - This one was mainly just for pride. The Blunts already had the playoffs locked up, although their seeding was affected. But Texas wanted to make a statement that they deserved to be in the playoffs and just had a lot of bad luck. Well they did just that. Only one team in the Fruit Loops Division has scored more points than Texas, yet somehow they end up at #5. Tough luck, start looking for next year. The Blunts loss drops them from #3 to #5.

Ric Flair @ • Victors - This game was decided by the Sunday night game...Favre had a down game (relatively) and Fitzgerald and Harvin lifted the Victors to a strong lead before MNF, which turned out to be inconsequential. The Victors get a strong win, capitalizing on the Blunts loss to jump up to the #3 spot.

'Horns @ Ramrod - Ramrod needed a win to ensure their #1 seed. Kurt Warner tried his best to get the pride W for the 'Horns, but Shiancoe's early TD ended up to be the difference. Ramrod takes a 2 point win to the top of the playoff brackets.

    PLAYOFF PREVIEW

    FIRST ROUND:

#1 Ramrod and #2 Novacaine: Ramrod and Novacaine get to rest their teams and lick their wounds this weekend, taking full advantage of their First Round byes. Ramrod is very happy about that, with Hines Ward nursing a hammy and Visanthe Shiancoe still recovering from a rib injury.

#3 Victors v. #6 Dwarves: These two teams tangled in Week 8 with the Dwarves taking home an 82-65 victory. That was the second lowest score the Victors put up all season. On the season, the Victors are averaging 92.3 PPG and the Dwarves are at 86.6. The line based on projected points is 12 in favor of the Victors. They'll be playing catch up most likely, as every player on the Dwarves has a 1 o'clock game on Sunday, highlighted by Brees @ Atlanta and Thomas Jones @ Tampa Bay. The Victors have Brandon Jacobs running Sunday night and the Alex Smith to Vernon Davis connection and Larry Fitzgerald playing MNF. The winner of this match up goes on to play the #2 Novacaine in the Second Round.

#4 • PABS!!! v. #5 Blunts: • PABS!!! took home a blowout 109-43 victory in the Week 3 match up between these two. That was the Blunts' lowest score all season and • PABS!!!' third highest...I'd say it's a safe bet that this one will be somewhere in the middle. The Blunts have a 2.2 PPG higher average score, 90.6 to 88.4, but the "experts" at ESPN have • PABS!!! as the 29 point favorite, the largest of any spread in next week's games. That's mainly based on a predicted strong game for Jones-Drew and double digit projections for all but 2 of the Slaps players. This match up will all come down to Frank Gore (Blunts) v. Anquan Boldin (• PABS!!!) on MNF. The winner of this game gets Ramrod in the Second Round.

#7-#12...nobody cares about you people any more!

So I missed the playoffs by one game. I finished second in overall points trailing Mr. Commish by only 8. Disappointing but I was glad to beat Red in the last game.

Darren, thanks for running a great league. Like I said a few weeks ago this was by far the most competitive league I've ever been in. I'll be back next year!

Thanks guys, I'm glad this league turned out as good as it did...it was just a spur of the moment idea in a way and I had no idea if anyone would be interested at all. I've had fun doing it...I'm a FF nerd and love doing all the junk that comes along with it.

But don't go getting all sappy pantywaist on me...we've still got playoffs baby! No time for hugs and bonfires and koom ba yah(?)...I've still got some more tail to kick!

I just realized I jumped to the #1 scoring team....BOOYAH!! And I hate to break it to you Ash, but Ryan actually jumped you for #2...he's 1201, you're 1193. Either way, though, it is a tough break to be that good and not make it to the playoffs. I guess there was a reason your team was voted one of the 2 best in the preseason, the chips just didn't fall the right way.
