Help, need some thoughts!
About 2 weeks ago I bought a card on a Ebay auction. The card was $187. Well, I won the auction and then I saw that shipping to Europe would be $30 dollars. I thought that was very high and unreasonable, but ok, I did pay it after all, not such a big deal, I now knew that my card would be shipped registered and I could be sure that I will really receive it, that it will not get lost.
So today I was not at home in the morning and when I came home I see that the mailman was here to deliver the card, but he left a note saying I was not at home, etc etc etc. Also on the same note it says that he will return tomorrow to deliver the card and that I need to pay $60 dollars for delivery.
I was like ™™™?! $60 dollars? I already paid the seller $30 dollars for shipping, how come do I need to pay now another $60 dollars?! That's ridiculous.
I sent the seller a message about this, but in the meantime I want to hear your opinion on this. Anyone ever had this? What should I do? And how come they ask me now to pay another $60?

It could be a customs thing. Though I'm not sure I don't really buy stuff internationally.

I have no idea, I dont think post office is ripping me off though.
Yeah, I was just thinking about that. It could be something with that. But, come on, 60 dollars? Is there even custom declaration necessary for a sportscard? It was shipped in a package instead of an envelope. When I ordered a basketball jersey from the USA last year, customs was about $20 which I had to pay to the mailman, but that's a jersey.
I dont know, but If I knew this, I would've never bought the card. I already was a bit dissapointed in the $30 shipping costs, but now these $60 extra? Its over the top.

it could be what he declared on the customs sheet...sometimes diff people interpret things differently....60 is a lot though as that is what most people pay for fresh good items from customs...maybe go to the post office and double check and demand some sort of explanation...good luck

Well, I did some searching on the Dutch customs website, and I think its definitely a custom thing. Yeah I should go to the post office, but what should I do when the mailman gets here? Should I pay it?
