Would you ever...
Would you ever go to a player's house to get his autograph. The only reason I ask is because a former Cubs player lives about 5 minutes away from me. I know I can send him something and get it signed, but I would really like to meet him. Let me know your thoughts.

Let's say you were out "walking the dog" and he just happened to be outside. A quick "Hello Mr. XXXX" and even a "Could I have your autograph?" would be proper...but to go and knock on the door. Nope...wouldn't do it.
But that's just my opinion.

Don't think I would go knock on their door at home and/or a hotel room. I think it's very generous of them to take the time when they sign a TTM for me.

Yeah, that is just breaching the line between fan and creep. Imagine sitting there watching TV, and getting up to answer the door only to see that it's an auto hound. That would probably be pretty annoying.

The thought crossed my mind on halloween...I work at a children's home, but decided yeah it would be a little too creepy...and the kids would have probably freaked out.

When he sees your TTM request came from a few miles over; if he cares or dosen't mind meeting with fans he will hand deliver it to you or write a note sying stop by.
Put yourself in a stars shoes. How would you like being interupted by a fan knocking at your door for a free autograph?
IMHO and this is just my feelings, that is one of the worst things you can do and it makes all autograph collectors look bad.

Okay thanks for the thoughts guys. I try to get as many pictures with former Cubs as possible, but I agree that is a bit creepy.
