I really wish they would have gave their beta users a few more options. I was using the site, then boom, totally changed their protocol. Everything gone.
That said..
The idea is great: IE: What you see is what you get, with COMC being the intermediary, but giving the users a fair amount of control!
Glad it's working for you guys, it seems they're handling those unexpected's very well too, whether thru growing/gains, entry snafu, etc.. BUT I hope they stay ahead of the curve on CS.
#1 theme in many current buiss. models seems to be handling the problem without a reply or update, this has inherent flaws.

Hello,
I'm writing this in an attempt to get your help in changing the 'no linking' policy in regards to this site. I am both a VIP of SCF and a user of comc's as many of you are. I was informed that linking to the site was in violation of the SCF rules because COMC is not a paid advertiser.
I have consulted with the SCF 'Off Site Relations' Manager: doniceage and he has suggested that each member should contact him to voice their concerns, so it might be brought to the attention of SCF 'Higher-ups' for possible consideration.
If you have a moment, please contact him to voice any concerns you have, so he may help relate them to others. I would caution, please be polite, and diplomatic about your pm. I myself pointed out that quite a few members of SCF use the COMC site to obtain items for their collections, not just sell. I also pointed out that I use ebay very little, so the ebay linking is not really of any use to me.
Additionally, I would also like to suggest that you contact Tim Getsch (COMC Founder/Owner) and try to convey your concerns to him at this email: staff_AT_checkoutmycards.com
Sincerely,
Jim

I'm almost positive that this will be old news for anyone that sent a message to Don. I was told that eBay pays the boards a fee so that we can have the privilege of having our eBay accounts linked to our user names.
Hopefully, COMC will come to some agreement along the same lines as FeeBay so that we can have the same privilege with our accounts there.
It may be old news......... But I (along with numerous others) am trying to renew the effort to get a deal done with the 2 parties. I have emailed Tim, and I know (for a fact) that Don is working closely on this to help the members. I spoke with someone at COMC yesterday, and that person took great note in the fact that this thread about COMC - is on of the largest current threads on the SCF site.
That in and of itself, shows that there is quite a bit of interest by members of this site, about the COMC site.
(Take notice to the Q4 results below)
I would bet, that close to 10% of the 10,900+ accounts they have, heard about COMC from SCF...........
I suggest everyone re-read what was posted above.
While SCF has sent SO MANY people over to COMC, SCF has gotten very little exposure on COMC and very little traffic from them. So, it is a completely once sided benefit. COMC takes a commission off every sale and SCF is 100% free to sell your cards. Some how I'm made out to be the bad guy and COMC the victim. Does that really make sense to anyone?
COMC is an affiliate and Tim is allowed to create an account and have a link to COMC in his signature. That is the standard affiliate program and we have a lot of affiliates that do this. Our general rule is that a SCF link must be on your front page. SCF is buried on COMC's site and I didn't put up an argument because it wasn't that important. COMC is on our affiliate page and Tom is allowed to have a link in his signature.
First, I have never asked COMC to be an advertiser on SCF. I prefer to work out affiliations that are beneficial to both of us rather than have them advertise with money. I'd be happy to allow every SCF member to place a link to COMC, Beckett or any other site as long as we got a benefit from it (equivalent link back). The equivalent deal on COMC would be for their members to have the same right. If they wanted to place a link back to SCF on their account page they should be allowed. I will actually sent Tim an e-mail today proposing this.
For members to ask me to allow links in their signatures to sites that make a profit and provide little support back is the equivalent to me opening a store and allowing customers to take what they want for free. I spent over $30,000 last year keeping SCF running (server costs, staff pay, The Nationals, CC Pack sales, etc) and spent even more buying SCF. Am I suppose to just give free advertising to everyone that wants it?
Ask anyone that has dealt with me and you will learn that I always try the affiliate route before going the paid adverser route.
I met Tim at the Nationals last year and have chatted with him by e-mail last week. He is a great guy and someone I can work with. I will propose to him an equivalent link back deal. Until then I can not allow links in signatures or threads like this that obviously promote COMC on a daily basis.

Mike, I don't think anyone here is calling you the "bad guy", but will vouch on the thousands you spend for the site...

Not that i know of lol, it was for a Matt Ryan Topps Gold RC /2009 & Miguel Cabrera /50, i'm not one to take lowballs seriously, but i mean when i reject the offer twice, you think the person gets the point i'm not intrested in giving my cards away at that price

Mike, you're definetly not the bad guy or even a bad guy. We appreciate all the effort, time and money that you put into this site. It shows in the amount of time that we all spend here and the great community that shows up at SCF each day.
I'm sure I speak for everyone involved in this thread when I say that I hope something is able to be worked out between SCF and COMC that is beneficial to both parties. Once again, thank you for everything that you do to keep SCF a great place to chat with like minded folks.

Whew! I only do it to start the process and see where a seller is willing to go with a price.
