    PWE.....the worst shipment option

I know im not the first one to show the dislike for the PWE (paper envelope) but it is no good for shipping cards. Today i received a card that had been shipped in a PWE...the toplader was cracked, and my GU has seams around the patch bulge from being too tighty compressed. Im assuming it isnt on purpose to damage the cards, but still, it does a lot of difference to pay an extra 35 cents per envelope. I always ship in a bubble mailer (as most of us do) but when i dont get the same courtesy, it does tend to make me a little angry, especially when the card is damage. I heard a story on here of some have a GLASS CARD shipped to them in a PWE...even the three stooges could have figuered that one out.

Anyone else have a strong dislike for PWEs besides me? Any feedback or stories is appreciated.

    Jason

i dont think its that big of a deal as long as you do it right..my post office requires packages to be certain thicknesses to send in bubble mailers..its like 5 dollars for me to send unless i use pwe..i always use bubble mailer and dc on any deal over like 25$ but on low end deals like GU ill just wrap the card in bubble wrap and put it in a pwe

oh god. a few stories here. I've had some new traders and some not so new ones send in PWEs (on another site I believe). once, the card I got was fine but the other time it was totally creased.

The worst one was when a guy decided to use a bubble mailer. He was a new trader so I was glad he at least knew to use them. Only problem? He'd never heard of top loaders. Card came all chipped from the way he stored it at his house and then bent because of no loader

AND A LESSON TO THOSE WHO DON'T USE TEAM BAGS:

I traded for a rookie card /100 for my friend. The card came, was in a bubble, penny sleeve, and top loader but the problem? No team bag. Card slid out in transit. When i opened the card, half was in the top loader and half wasn't. Card was bent and very damaged. USE TEAM BAGS PEOPLE! AND NOT TAPE!

I use tape over the top of toploaders, but flip the penny sleeve so the card cant hit the tape. This card was just in a PWE wrapped with a sheet of paper inside the envelope. It wasnt a big money card, but still, makes you cringe to see HOF jerseys with creases...

My major gripe about tape is that I want to be able to take the card out at any time without having tape residue all over the top loader. I can't stand having my cards stick to other loaders while in my boxes because someone taped the top of the card. Certain tape is fine and leaves no residue but I just think team bags are easier and better, and theyre cheap

Yeah i agree, but i always forget to buy them. I usually keep all my cards out, which is why the tape doesnt bother me so much.

Bubble mailer, top loader, penny sleeve, team bag, and a couple decoys to help make it sturdy.

Those are the essentials (in my opinion) of shipping a piece of cardboard across the country.

I've received a few cards in a PWE and thankfully none of them were damaged. But it always makes me nervous...no need to get angry until the card gets damaged.

I really don't like tape on my toploaders! I hate on ebay getting charged $5 for shipping when I see on the postage it cost $1.50 US from the US to Canada. I mean $3.50 is enough then. However as long as my card isn't damaged I guess I'm ok

How about getting charged $3.50 for shipping, and it comes in a PWE with a 44 cent stamp on it. Ruined. That really irritates me. If you're gonna send a PWE, tell me, so I can cancel our trade, or not bid on your item. Can't stand it.
