WOW!!! This is a win for the Leafs considering what they gave up. No draft picks this time and a bunch of losers going to Calgary. If Phaneuf plays that gritty/aggressive game, he's going to be loved by Leaf fans. In my opinion, this sort of makes up for the Kessel deal. Basically, it's Kessel for the 2010 1st, and Phaneuf for the 2011 1st. The question is now, even with White gone, what is Burke going to do with a crowded blue line? And you still need a playmaker for Kessel.

Great trade for Toronto......Blueline and out......Lots to deal still and more than a player for player trade in the works.....who else is coming from Anaheim??? Ian White was like minus 10 in the past month....Hagman, Stajan and Mayers too......not too bad for the Leafs. Toskala for Giguere??? I think Ponikarovsky will be gone too.

It's really looking like the Toskala for Giguere trade will happen soon. NHL.com is saying it could be Toskala for Giguere and a 1st.
Dreger via Twitter: "No trade call scheduled yet, but Giguere will end up in Toronto and Toskala will end up in Anaheim...unless disaster strikes."

You Toronto fans won't be saying great deal for long. Phaneuf is an avererge d-man at best. Too much hype around him. Just my opinion about him

What I love about Phaneuf is his aggresiveness, and his physical style. He's also very reliable in terms of staying injury-free. Luke Schenn now has a mentor, and we also get to see Elisha Cuthbert more often.

If the JS for Vesa thing happens, what's going on with Gustavsson then?

Well, Toronto has addressed the goaltending need which is huge.
Aside from that, we need forwards not defense. It really hurts to lose White as far as I'm concerned.

Gustavsson isn't ready to be a #1 in the NHL. Let him be #2 here. He will get better.
