totally agree that there is no way he trades kadri or schenn. personally, i think schenn is a bit overrated but he should be a quality top 4 d-man.

i don't imagine kadri will tear it up next year but he could be a quality player in his first year. i can't remember the last guy that made that jump from the OHL at his size as a forward and made a big impact his first year. but from what i hear he should be a very good player.

in my opinion, leafs fans should be a much happier crew today than they were yeterday. it looks like burke has a plan and is starting to execute it.

Well Kadri has 31 points in his last 13 games in the OHL so he is destroying it in juniors right now.

As for Schenn he is definitely overrated and looking at that draft year Tyler Myers and Jordan Eberle were drafted after Schenn so yeah definitely over hyped but still should be a solid NHL player.

As a Leafs fan I can tell you yesterday was a low water mark where I was about to give up hope. Vancouver is where I live and my 2nd favourite team and since this year they actually have a shot at winning the Cup I rooted for them to win last night. When the Leafs got up 3-0 after the 1st I just had a gut feeling they were going to blow it royally and boy did they ever. After Burrows shorhanded goal I knew Vancouver was going to comeback.

i know how you feel - kings haven't made the playoffs in 8 years or something like that.

don't get me wrong, i think kadri will be good - i just don't expect him to be a 30 goal guy his first year.

and i think schenn is a good player and will be a solid d-man for years, just not norris trophy good. but in the hobby he's worth more than doughty.

I don't see this happening. The leafs just locked up a lot of cap space with Phaneuf for 4 years. Plus another year with Giguere even though Blake is gone. They did save a bit with Stajan and Mayers gone though. That's what 2.5mil I think. I don't think that's enough to bring Gagner or Ryan in.

See, the thing is, how are you suppose to bid for Gagner or Ryan when the cap space you're suppose to earn from your UFAs are being re-locked in with other players (ie. Phaneuf & Giguere). I'm sure Burke will deal Pony and Stempniak pre-deadline as well. Unless, he's leaving that space to resign the monster. So, where are you going to get the money?

The Leafs aren't done making moves my friend and after today I have a new found faith in Brian Burke.

If the Leafs had of kept Hagman and White they would have been making what Phaneuf is next season and ill take Phaneuf over those two any day. Kaberle will be moved in the summer, Finger will be playing for the Marlies and I dont think the Monster will be getting as much of a raise as you think. They will be just fine IMO, especially since now guys like Bozak, Stalberg, Hanson and Kadri all have a legitimate shot at maing the team next year because Burke moved out some veteran contracts.
