Upper Deck Champs - Dinosaur bones?

Hi all,

I recently opened a box of Series 2 09/10 and found an insert for a product called Upper Deck Champs.

Looks like the strangest mix of cards I have ever seen. Hockey, Wonders of the World and maybe even a dinosaur bone?

Is this thing legit? It must be, coming out of the box and all, but it seems so weird. Does anyone have info on what this set is? Is it a hockey set with a possibility of getting non-hockey inserts? Maybe even a dinosaur bone?

Any insight would be awesome.

yeah UD Champs last year came out with a fossil redemption set, stuff like Wooley Mammoth Feemur bones, etc, so yes it is legit and they actually sell pretty good on ebay if i recall

nice hit in my opinion if its an actual fossil card, or is it just a regular card?

Acutal dino/mammoth bones were cut up and put into cards.

I am curious about this....why would a Champs insert be in a box of UD2?! Can we get a scan or pic of the card? Am I understanding this correctly?

It wasn't an insert card, just like those advertisement/flyers advertising other UD products. I got one for 09/10 Champs in my S2 box last night.

I personally enjoyed Champs last year...I didn't buy a lot of the product, but I did enjoy the base design and the inserts and variations available. The Dino / Extinct cards were kind of ho-hum IMO, but I did get the Mike Weir GU which I still very much love.

I really thought hard about buying a box or two last year. Would love to pull one of the fossil cards (they are legit!). This year, I'm going to for sure.

There's been some other threads recently, bemoaning Upper Deck for including non-Hockey cards into their hockey sets. In Champs this time around, they've also included cards of another great interest of mine - Politics. Cards for each American President, and Canadian Prime Minister.

While I have very little interest in 'mini' cards.... the Pres / PM cards... combined with the fossile inserts... are what has convinced me to buy a couple of boxes this year (so long as the price is decent). A couple of GU and Autos per box should mean decent return on whatever I spend.

Can't wait for the product to roll out.
