    Greatest PG ever?

My opinion is Jason Kidd is the greatest point guard of all time. He does it all. He can score, get assists (of course), and even gets rebounds. He is the only player (yes only) with 15,000 points, 10,000 assists, and 7,000 rebounds. He's second all-time in assists, to John Stockton, which I doubt he will be able to catch.

Kidd also is the only player to have a 700 assist and 500 rebound season 7 times. (Magic and Oscar Robertson did it 6 times).

He's a point guard that can contribute to the three main categories in basketball. Not many can do that.

Any thoughts? I know there are a lot of greats like John Stockton and such.

Die hard Mavs fan here, but I have to go with Magic #1 & Kidd #2. Magic was a great faciltator (sp?) & could literaly play any position on the court. He even started a game at C when Kareem was hurt & almost had a triple double. Love J Kidd, but Magic was better.

Kidd still has better stats for a PG. Even though Magic was 6'9", and Kidd is 6'4". Magic is like putting Lebron at PG haha. Kidd can only play PG, and Magic could play all, even center, but i'm just talking about the PG position. So I still think at PG, I want Kidd.

Magic is still one of the greatest of all time, dont get me wrong. But for straight PG, give me Kidd.

I personally like Stockton, but Kidd certainly is in the mix.

Magic....stats speak loudly but Magic was an innovator of the game. He missed some seasons due to contracting the AIDS virus which detract from his overall stats. His versatility is unmatched in the history of the game. In addition, he won championships; isn't that a measure of greatness when you were the catalyst of those high-caliber teams?

    Kidd is great.....Magic was phenomenal....

Kidd is top 5, for sure, but I don't think he's the greatest PG of all time - yet. Really have to put Magic, Stockton, Cousy, and West in the mix too...as of now, I'd probably put Kidd at 2 or 3...tough to vote him that low, but it's also tough to vote him at #1 with all the greats.

Yeah, he averaged a triple-double over his first 5 seasons. He also had 181 triple-doubles in his career. In 1961 he averaged 30.8 points, 12.5 rebounds and 11.4 assists (thanks, Wiki). This is on the level of Dimaggio's hitting streak, Rose's all-time hits, Nolan Ryan's strikeouts, and Stockton's assist record. Untouchable.
