Upset of the Year: On road, the 5-52 Nets beat the Celtics

How about now? Is the Retirement Center officially done now?

i think the celtics are done. i understand them just not showing up against the teams like memphis or okc but to lose to the nets they have to not only not show up but not put any effort forward. put a fork in them because they are done.

Honestly I don't think this really means anything. The Bobcats have lost to the Nets twice now right? And the Cavs have lost to the Bobcats three times. Weird things happen in the NBA.

The NBA is just funny that way. It's a game of basketball and if you don't bring it, you could lose to anyone. Besides, the Nets aren't as bad as their record indicates imo. At least personnel wise lol. The season just started off horrible and along with some heart breakers their confidence is just in the toilet. Hopefully this helps so that they don't break the record.

Yea I mean if they lost twice to the Nets.. and we only lost once, it's 1 game. So whoever is supporting the Cavs in this situation, who HAVE lost to the Bobcats 3 times, then 1 loss by the Celtics against NJ isn't like blowing their chances this whole season... the makers of these threads who make jokes about all this gotta stop downing the Celts (or any other team for that matter) because you think a couple losses in a row means they're out of the season, and because you call them the "Retirement Center" for having like 3 older guys.. it's pretty funny.

The Celtics problem is complacency. They take regular season games for granted and think they can just flip a switch come playoff time. The Nets did not beat them today, they beat themselves. By consistently playing down to their opponents' levels, the C's are an easy target for an upset.

Compare that to other contending teams...players aged at 29 or older...
    Celtics - 6
    Cavs - 4
    Hawks - 5
    Magic - 6

    Lakers - 7
    Nuggets - 6
    Mavs - 10
    Spurs - 8

So, the Celtics really aren't that old...yes, 3/5 of their starters are older, but they have alot of youth on the bench...something that alot of other teams can't say.

Same could be said about Spurs teams of years past...but they did win 3 titles while not playing great throughout the regular season.

Celtics fans always making excuses. I love it.

No 'elite' team should EVER lose at home to a team that's 5-52, unless their entire rotation is hurt and they're playing with all D-League call ups.

Celtics suck.... Like if you think you can win a championship losing to the worst team in the NBA, you have problems.

Celtics are too old to win another championship with the players they have.

people who say losing to the Bobcats is bad, should consider that the Bobcats are in the playoff hunt :)
