Is this right?
I want some opinions on this situation. Is this messed up or what?
I recently sent to former Celtic Acie Earl thru a home address I got on sportscollectors.net No mention of a fee was on there so I figured I'd send. I sent 3 cards of him.
Today I get the cards back. 2 signed, 1 he kept. Along with a flyer for some spanish basketball game or something. He signed this personalized and also personalized my cards.
Along with it he sends a note asking for a donation. $3 per autograph and it goes to some girls teams he organizes/coaches.
It almost threatens you to send $. Here is what it says as follows:
As a thank you I will post your first name and city and state on our team website www.venomsportsgirls.com as a donator to the venom sports girls. If you do not send a donation to me for the card I will post your full name and city on my website as a selfish autograph seeker who skipped out on a chance to make donation for a girls team. I will also email in your information to the popular autograph seekers websites saying how you skipped out on us for a donation all because your selfish.
What do you guys think of this? messed up huh? If he wants to charge then he should send the cards back with a price list. Not sign them and then ask for the $. If I knew he was going to do that I would not have sent. He isn't a huge autograph to me.
I almost don't know what to do. Send it in or what. I went on the site for the team and see no mention of any donators. I also don't want to get put on a blacklist for not donating and screw up other auto chances. Also I dont see any list of people who did not donate.(check the site yourself) Unless he has some other site of his own.
What would you do?

Just send the money dude. Hopefully then he will shut up. I don't think it's worth it. Besides, how does Acie Earl know when it will be donated? I have had some recent returns asking for donations but I will have to put off momentarily. Doesn't mean I won't send, just haven't gotten the chance. That being said, who the hell does he think he is?

That seems a little weird. I would send him two cards with your auto and say we are even.

I've seen some messed up things but this is by far the worst. He can't possibly do what he is threatening. he can't post your information on the net w/o your permission.
If I were you I'd send them back with a note explaining you lost total respect for him with his threats and would rather loose the cards than have anything with his likeness in your collection of class-act superstars. maybe donate a $5 with a post-it telling him to use it towards Public relations pointers or a class on professionalism.
Then post scans of his note on all the sites to let other fans see what a slime ball he is. Charging is one thing, but send it back unsigned; not sign then threaten for payment. That's blackmail tactics.

I'll just keep the cards. They are mine. As much as I would send a donation I can't afford to right now. And he makes plenty I am sure. I was looking to see if he had any other sites where he might post "bad collectors" and I came across a site where he advertises being a basketball instructor. I'm sure he makes good money with that being a 'former" NBA player. If he does choose to do anything like he says I have the proof that it is pretty much blackmail.
Anyone know any sites where I could post a photo of his letter. At least the threatening part.

Yeah here. Scan it and upload to Photobucket or one of the free hosting sites. They post it here or any other TTM site.
