1st Fantasy Draft - Did I do alright?

Okay, so I've done fantasy baseball since I was a freshman in high school (that was 9 years ago) and this year I swore it off. I normally never keep up with it through the summer and just end up giving up. So I swore it off...

That lasted about 2 weeks. I'm a sucker for a live online draft...

How did I do? I had the #2 pick.

    C - Jorge Posada (NYY)
    1B - Kendry Morales (LAA)
    2B - Jose Lopez (SEA)
    3B - Chone Figgins (SEA)
    SS - Hanley Ramirez (FLA)
    OF - Curtin Granderson (NYY)
    OF - Justin Upton (ARI)
    OF - Raul Ibanez (PHI)
    UTIL - Jay Bruce (CIN)
    UTIL - Carlos Beltran (NYM)
    BN - Marco Scutaro (BOS)
    BN - J.D. Drew (BOS)
    BN - Brendan Ryan (STL)

    SP - Felix Hernandez (SEA)
    SP - Yovani Gallardo (MIL)
    RP - Jonathan Broxton (LAD)
    RP - Joakim Soria (KC)
    P - Ryan Dempster (CHC)
    P - Aaron Harang (CIN)
    P - Frank Francisco (TEX)
    P - Johnny Cueto (CIN)
    BN - Jonathan Sanchez (SF)
    BN - Ryan Madson (PHI)

How many teams is that league?? It looks like a pretty solid team. You don't really have any huge power guys but there are a lot of them, Bruce, Upton, Ibanez, Morales, Hanley, that could hit 25-35 HRs.

While I LOVE your relievers I think you could struggle with starting pitching. While Gallardo is filthy he doesn't get a ton of wins. If Cueto and Sanchez really figure it out this year then it could be solid though.

Hey, thanks for the comments. It's a standard 12 team Yahoo league. That good, huh?

I agree that the starters aren't great, but like you said, if a few of them can click, then they can be really good.

I think it certainly has the possibility to be really good. I think Upton and Bruce could both have huge years and although I hate the Yankees I think Granderson could put up some serious numbers. I think the success of the team will come down to the pitching and since I think a pitching staff is pretty easy to solidify through the waiver wire.

Thanks for the comments! I agree that Upton and Bruce should have monster years! I was happy to steal Bruce pretty late in the draft.

interesting idea with the pitching staff. So do you start the entire staff at all times or switch players in and out.

Also, when do pitching staffs typically get drafted? is it a separate process or just like team defense in football?
