book value
Today i bought a 1 month subscription at beckett just to try it out. But there are some prices i can´t understand, for example:
2009-10 Upper Deck #23 Michael Jordan $5.00
$5.00? A base card? I know it´s Jordan but it doesn´t make much sense... i know bv is always higher than the real value in the market, but are all cards listed there this far off?
I mean
2005-06 Upper Deck Rookie Debut Ink #BR Bernard Robinson $12.00

Doesn't it usually give you a range? like 5 LO 10 HI or something like that?
Jordan cards are expensive like that even base. If you think about it, someone buying that card on ebay will most likely have to pay 0.99 cents for it and 3$ shipping standard so it comes out to $4 sale price anyway, so it's not a stretch.
The Debut Ink price range? is the 12.00$ Hi or Lo? If it's the HI value then it makes sense but if it's the Lo value then it doesn't.
Be sure to consider the range of prices, but also remember that Beckett only serves as a guide always.

BV is just a range. I like the beckett because it gives an idea of what you can get for your cards sometimes. It seems most people like the idea of getting the high beckett price when selling, but only paying the low price when buying.

For common card, I go by (Hi value divided by 2). For rare card, it is totally different story...lol

beckett is a waste, its people in suits and ties that have no idea about the hobby making the prices.
Selling by the beckett pricing just makes me laugh, beckett doesnt tell you what your cards worth, ebay, and other sites do that.

people who dismiss beckett and their BV are just people who dont know how to use the beckett guides.

Use it as a "guide", not as a "Bible"

still is illogical, who is going to trade a card that books 50 and sells 10 for a card that books 50 and sells 40?
