Why does Jon Fitch get no respect?
One of the best fighters in the UFC is Jon Fitch, yet no one knows his name. He gets zero respect from fans or the UFC.
Some details:
- 21-3 record after going 2-2 to start!
- Won 16 straight fights before losing to GSP. Won three fights since!
The guy has to be in the top 10 for pound-for-pound best fighters yet no one knows who he is!
Also, the UFC has zero respect for him. They are making him fight Thiago Alves who he knocked out several years ago, yet a a no name like Hardy gets to fight GSP for the belt? I'm personally sick of the UFC giving British boxers fights they do NOT deserve because the UFC sees the British audience as needed market. That will be another thread!

I'm with you Mike. He doesn't get the props he deserves. I think the thing is his wrestling. He's not an exciting fighter to watch, so people look over him. I won't though.
But, I think Fitch loses this weekend to Alves.

The books agree. GSP is around -700 to -800 on most books.

2 words - GIMMICK and CONTROVERSY!
Most of the popular fighters are either very good at the sport or need a gimmick or to create controversy. Vanilla/white bread just doesn't sell! Fitch may be very good, but he is one of those average build, middle-of-the-road caucasian fighters. But if he were to throw in an extra punch after knocking out an opponent or constantly trash-talk his opponents, his stock will rise! Isn't this why fighters hype up their fights by expressing their utter hatred for each other, how they're going to kill them AND their families? Then after the fight, it's all hugs and kisses!

Fitch is now fighting Saunders for the contendership. I don't think Hardy deserves a shot at the title.
And I agree with you Fitch is one of the top 10 fighters right now in welterweight. However I just don't think he wins by exciting enough fashion to be able to even stand a chance against GSP.
Then again almost no one stands against GSP by skill alone.

Totally agree with you here, Fitch is just plain boring and doesn't finish fights. And he already had his title shot against GSP and this was the result:
