New and need some help
Have collected off an on for years but ready to jump into it big time. Something me and my 14 yo son can do together. Not to get into huge detail but he was diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis about a month ago, so have went from being a very good basketball player to not being able to play at all. He needs somewhere to turn his attention so this is what he has decided he wants to do. Build collections while selling stuff so we don't break the bank.
All that being said I am learning everything I can about selling cards on the net and I need some suggestions. Looking for a mentor, won't bug you to death just some simple probably way too simple questions.
First one - taking pics of what we want to sell should I use photobucket or imageshack to host?
TIA

Feel free to ask away. I started collecting cards w/ my dad in 1989. I have stayed pretty active off and on since then. I have sold plenty on eBay and here. Always use a scanner, digital cams can blur cards, etc. If you can take great digital pics then go for it, but I prefer scans. I also use photobucket to host the pics. Good luck. My college roommate also had Rheumatoid Arthritis so I know the pain, etc that comes w/ it, sorry to hear.

Yeah it just never works for some reason w/ a cam. Some people can do it but I've never been able to. Luckily scanners are cheap nowadays. A good one usually comes in an all in package (scanner, copier, printer, etc) for like $70.

Good luck!!! Card collecting is a great way to stay in the game, follow a favorite team or player and spend time with family and friends. A scanner is the way to go. Cards look better and give buyers more confidence because they get a "good idea" of card condition.
Feel free to private message (PM) me with any questions. The forums are obviously a great place for card collector newbies and veterans alike to learn as much as possible and help as many collectors as possible. Good luck to you and your son!!!!

I would be glad to help you as well. I would also suggest a photobucket and using buying an affordable scanner might be the better choice.

I use photobucket. And my scanner is just $10. At most, you may need a camera as backup to take detail picture.
And get a beckett or something price guide as starter. Just don't follow the guide too much as it is really not up to date.
