Kings Make Playoffs for First Time in Almost a Decade
Not the way I wanted to get in, but with Calgary's loss today and the Kings dreadful SO loss last night they have clinched a spot in the playoffs.
I'm not thrilled how the team is playing and I don't have high expectations for the playoffs, but at least they got in. Anything can happen and although the West is very strong, all the top contenders have an issue that could slip them up...
San Jose - they always choke
Chicago - rookie goalie
Vancouver - injuries/Luongo has been spotty since Olympics
Phoenix - never been
It's possible that the 5-8 seeds could all beat the 1-4 seeds - not saying it's likely but it's possible, especially with Detroit getting healthy.
But all that to say that the Kings got in and I'm satisfied with that. If I had a choice I'd take Phoenix in round 1 but anything that happens from here is just gravy. 2010-11 is the year we make a serious run - this year is just for the experience.

A decade?
Yikes.
I'd love to see them in the finals this season....against the Habs

Me too, so they could win their first Cup against the team with the most as well as exact "revenge" for 1993!

hehe
Do you need a copy of the 93 Playoffs Roy vs Gretzky? It's awesome.....for a Canadiens fan.

two words about that final - mcsorley stick. i truly believe the Kings win that series if mcstick plays with a legal twig. up 1 game to 0 in Montreal and up a goal late in the game. should have been 2-0 heading back to LA.
no use crying about it - but a rematch would be nice :)

THIS.
I am not crying about it either, the Habs won, fair and square. (even though Marty cheated!)
That said, Habs fans, don't bring any 1993 noise in here because you can't live the past forever. (unless you're a Leafs fan)
It's all about the now, and the Kings are on a major rise, the Canadiens, not so much..................so keep pulling out those 1993 tapes I guess.
