Case buying question
Looking for some opinions here:
First, is it worth it to buy a case, then sell everything?
Second, if you could buy a case, would you buy to keep all, some, or just a few.
Thanks for the input!

No, it is very rarely worth buying a case and then selling everything. If you are looking to make your money back, don't buy a case at all. Buy singles. If I were to buy a case, I would keep the nice cards that I like and sell the rest.

I have to agree. It's tuff to make your money back on a case. If I bought a case, i would keep certain stuff (I only collect certain players) and sell the rest. I don't collect LeBron or Kobe, so if I was lucky enough to pull a jersey or auto of those guys, I would sell them. In all, I basically collect "cult" players like Larry "Grand Ma Ma", Mark Price, Anfernee "Penny" Hardaway, Chris Mullin for example. So I would have fun busting box after box, but i would end up selling most. Unless you get a few nice hits (risky), you are most likely not going to make your money back.
There is no question that its def fun to open a ton of product as long as you stay grounded and enjoy the fun factors more so than the money or profit factor. Def do your research. Good luck with what ever you decide. If you do buy a case, I hope you pull something crazy cool!!!!

Thanks for the input. I bought my first case a while back and while it was exciting, I didn't make more than half my money back while barely getting anything to keep. Way to much base too! If I do go after anything, it will be the Crown Royal of timeless treasures.

those are good choices. I think they look like fun. I'm thinking of buying a box of each. I'm deciding between those two and UD Ultimate.

This is just me but I'd stay away from Ultimate. Without the license I don't see much good stuff coming out of it. Yes you might hit a Lebron or MJ but It's not worth the risk. Timeless has logomen and many good autographs including Durant. Just hope I can come up with the money for a case.

I personally think buying case works the best when the product has limited base cards in each pack. You don't want to buy a case and end up with 12 complete base sets and bunch of 1:4 inserts. High end case usually ends up with something rare, but it just may not be the person you collect.
And other thing, it works for people who collect team instead of player. I really think you can out the whole rainbow or master set for any player and still be cheaper than buying a case.
I guess try to find a friend or two to do case break with you. And each one gets to keep something good and you don't need to pay like $1k+ for a case.

Thanks for the input! I've thought about going 1/2's on a case with a friend. And like you said, it's better to go with something that has less base. Timeless seems to be the product to go with being that you only get 2 base/inserts and 3 hits. And there is logomen and laundry tags which is very nice.
