Marty Turco To Become UFA

Per TSN, Dallas is not going to re-sign the veteran goalie after this season, allowing him to become a UFA and move on to another team.

My thought: he'd be a great backup/veteran mentor to Carey Price in Montreal.

Price flourished with Cristobal Huet around, maybe having somebody with that same level of experience could benefit him.

This doesn't really come as a shock. I know the Flyers had shown interest earlier in the season and might go after him this off season if they can get some more cap room. Most likely, they'll just make a trade for a goalie though. Also, the Sharks have said they would express interest if Nabokov isn't able to perform well in the playoffs again.

I guess we'll have to see what happens.

My thoughts: Dallas you are a huge bunch of TOTAL idiots. For this to get out is a pathetic thing to happen. Why would you allow this to become public? This hurts his value if they try and trade his rights at the draft and if they just let him walk, I'd fire everyone in the front office because that would just be a pathetic joke.

Any team that trades for Turco would have to try and resign him, so why give up players without knowing if you are going to keep him.

You make the deal conditional. If he resigns, Dallas gets like at least a 2nd or 3rd and if he walks, Dallas gets nothing or a 7th. or swap him for another expired contract ala the Bouwmeester deal

i got a feeling price will be gone after this season, Halak is way more consistant in nets. I dont think Montreal is going to put more investment into him.....and i hope not. I do agree turko would be a nice mentor on the team.

He sure was consistent in the last three games of the regular season.

I personally like the idea of Halak for Turco & and a first. Re-sign Turco to a 2-year deal for relatively cheap and continue developing Desjardins in Hamilton until he's ready to become Carey's backup.

I think that Turco will rebound nicely next year. The team that picks him up will be getting a great goalie. Turco still has it in him...I can sense it.

hhahahahahah you're senses are way off compared to mine my friend. He's garbage now IMO. This is now 2 straight bad seasons. Even as a division rival, I have mad respect for Turco but I just think he's washed up now. I wouldn't mind him in LA as our goalie coach ONLY to teach Quick how to play the puck because thats the only good thing about turco. Aside from that, he's good for a weak goal a game it seems.
