So I guess as a non-Habs fan, I have to ask fans of the team this question: if Halak steals this one...is it over for Carey Price in Montreal? Or do they trade away the guy with the highest value?

I say no.

The only people who think Price is done are the fans, and some local media.

According to Murray Wilson (CJAD Canadiens analyst), the goaltending in Mtl is the only thing that is solid and the Canadiens are more than happy to keep both tenders.

The way I see it, if Halak is looking for anything over 3-4 million then I see no way he stays. The Canadiens know they can keep Price at a lower value (based on this year's numbers) and they (The Canadiens) like both tenders so losing one won't be a tragedy.

It's all numbers.

They have to sign Plekanec (UFA), and seven other UFA. Plus eight RFA (including both goalies).

They have 11 million in space right now. If they don't sign any of the other UFA, and bring in low level entries to replace the them then there is room for Plekanec to go as high as 5 million and sign the remainder to one to two million dollar contracts.

If (big if) , they can move Hamrlik's contract (or someone else) at the draft (one year 5.5 million) then the Canadiens can pretty much do what ever they want with both goalies and Plekanec.

Next to this game tonight July is the next important game, and that will be very entertaining.

I'm officially calling for a ban on all talk about the future of the Canadiens' goaltending until after the season is over. If they lose tonight, go nuts tomorrow. But if they win, let's just shelve it until the off-season begins and focus on the playoffs.

I really think they might trade Carey before the 1st July Shane, to a team he would want to sign with like Phoenix did when they sent Jokinen to Calgary in 09...

It doesnt please me to say but I think they rushed Carey and his confidence got crushed by the montreal media and the fickle fans...Looks like a change of scenary would do him good...

People in Montreal dont appreciate Price, anyways. Even if he does get 40 saves. Might as well trade him...
