Some Amazing Successes
I'm sure some can chalk it up to 'LUCK' but I just signed up for the free membership (for now) to SCN.
Upon looking at the most recent baseball returns I noticed Jason Bay, Johan Santana, among other superstars responding to one particular person. Further inquiry into this guy reveals more success from the likes of David Wright, Tim Lincecum, Javier Vazquez, Jeff Kent, Omar Vizquel, Jimmy Rollins, Prince Fielder, Barry Bonds, Brian McCann, Cole Hamels, Pedro Martinez, Shane Victorino, Mark McGwire etc etc etc! The Santana and Bay had 21 day turnarounds c/o team...not sure about the rest, but I think I am safely assuming that some were obtained TTM like the Bay and Santana. And unless he just happened to post all of his old successes now, it looks like these were all obtained within the last few weeks.
Am I jealous? Well...yes. So, outside of the small chance this guy is 'scamming,' what can the secret be? Honestly I am hoping he reads these boards as I'm about to sign up for SCN's premium membership just to contact him.
If he is legitimately getting them, then...WOW! Congrats to him, and well done!Last edited by JVazz29; 04-28-2010 at 07:22 PM. Reason: Don't want to sound jerk-ish, mopped up

I have asked SCN to send me info on who to send a money order to to sign up 3 times with no responce. You can always see some successes posted that are very hard to believe on all forums and what that member is saying without anyone being able to duplicate the successes makes me wonder to the honesty of his posts. The number of successes with normally nonsigners would make me think they are not real.

A red flag was definitely thrown up for me when I saw them the shear number of them.

SportsCollectors.Net is quite clearly the biggest sports autograph community and the best resource for collectors around. I was the first to create functionality to allow collectors to track players' signing habits back when the site launched in 1998, and there have been wannabes popping up with inferior implementations since.
We have a very large and passionate community of collectors that regularly contribute. That is how our site had 90,000+ successes added in 2009 and 100,000+ successes added in 2008. Every success is reported by our members as they track their collections and share with others.
It's a matter of scale. SCN has thousands of collectors regularly sending to players and reporting their returns, and sometimes members do get returns from stars. Guys like Santana, Bay, and Vizquel have been good signers TTM earlier in their careers, so it is entirely possible someone could get lucky and get them now. I am regularly surprised by some of the successes I see our members get and quite psyched when I am able to add guys I don't have to my personal collection.Last edited by sportscollectors; 04-29-2010 at 12:00 AM. I feel that the Bay and Santana are real because I have seen the success posted on another autograph collecting forum and it was by a very well respected and credable member.

Good perspective.
I did not doubt their authenticity as my very first reaction was, "How the heck did this guy pull this off?" The signatures definitely looked great. Plus, where is the reward of scanning 'fake' signatures onto a website? I cannot think of one, and such an act stinks of desperate need for attention. Also, this person was not offering these athlete's graphs for trade unlike the many other 'lesser stars' he was offering. Outside of luck, I wondered if there was any particular strategies a person can utilize to gain the athlete's attention (I am relatively newer to the hobby). I am glad to see such successes, thus giving me hope that some of my favorite player do sign.
When I question "legitimacy" I hope the the method used to obtain said graph was proper and not under false pretenses. An unfortunate side effect of my line of work is skepticism and a major loss in trust of people which is on me.
Anywho, thank you for your response 'sportscollectors' and if you noticed the one members comment, it seems like a few are interested in signing up for your site (me included) but have had some trouble when trying to pay. I am sure any help would be appreciated.Last edited by JVazz29; 04-29-2010 at 04:35 PM. Reason: .

I've been wondering the same thing. Anyone like to share some tips or secrets? I've heard some people send their items in really big oversized envelops. Anything else?
