2010 Theme Week #1- Your Favorite Card
Welcome to Theme Weeks 2010! In week #1, the theme is very limited on what you can't enter. As long as the card doesn't have an auto, GU or patch, it can be entered. Just be sure to explain your entry! This week runs from tomorrow at 12:01 AM EST (5/2) until next Saturday (5/8) at 11:59 PM EST. All cards must be scanned or have their picture taken with a piece of paper that includes your SCF member name, date, and theme week number (This week is #1). Once a card has been entered into this week's theme, that card can't be entered into any other 2010 Theme Week, so choose wisely!
Voting will take place from the following Monday (5/10) and will last until 11:59 PM EST the following Sunday (5/16).
Each week, cards will have different "grading" standards as to what the winning card should most possess. They will be posted along with the voting thread. Remember, what matters more is the card itself, and NOT THE PLAYER!
Only one card may be entered per person. If a card is deemed to have no relation to the theme, you will not be entered in the week's voting. Each weekly winner will win (TBA)cc, with (TBA)cc to the second place finisher. In addition, the winner gains 1 point in the standings for the final prize. The second place finisher gets .5 point. Let's see those entries!
Have fun!

Here is my card. This is an early 1920's Babe Ruth strip card. The card measures approx. 2-1/2" tall by 1-1/2" wide. It originally came on a strip of a few cards, usually about 5, and it was up to the person who got the strip to cut the cards apart, and this made for most cards winding up being in lessor condition.
What makes this card so great is that not only is it one of the very first cards to show Babe Ruth as a Yankee, but it lists his position as pitcher and has him in a pitchers pose. Note too how the team says YANKS rather than YANKEES. The red background adds color to this great card. This card is one of my absolute favorites of alltime, not a card you see everyday. Very hard to find a Yankees card of Babe Ruth showing him as a pitcher. These old strip cards are so neat, its great to have any original strip card, they have such a neat look to them, different from any other card.

Well, thank you for the vote, but as the original poster said, its the card, not who is on it that counts. I was showing an unusual strip card due to the fact that this one is very rare and it shows a player as a pitcher who played his best in the outfield, but the fact that its Ruth is not supposed to be a factor. Its the card, the rarity of this version, the fact that it says PITCHER and YANKS that make it unique, and its got a colorful background and a neat drawing on it.
I will admit i am happy you appreciate the card, but dont judge it on Babe Ruth (if i read the premise of this thread correctly), judge it on the neatness of the card.

No I wasn't just judging it based on just Ruth but the year and the other information you gave.

This sketch card is my favorite non auto/etc for many reasons. As some of you know already I feel like I may have had a small part in the sketches idea. My love for art and baseball are combined in these 1/1 inserts. Jackie was a unforgettable player for many reasons and Holbrecht is probably the best artist commissioned by Topps. So, what card could be better for a guy like me? Value aside I own a piece that touches my soul on several levels.
