Does anyone know how to barter?

    Vent time!

So in the past 3 days, I've went through a few people who do not want to barter. People will sell a card for $20, I'll ask for it for $17, and they say no thanks. Than I say ok, $20 it is, and they ignore me. This stuff happens all the time. Do people not like bartering? Of course I will try to knock off a couple bucks (if the price is higher than normal), but if you don't like it, that doesn't mean ignore.. or so I thought.

I do this all the time. If someone offers $12 for a card, I will try for $15. And then if I try and buy a card I will do the same as you. I have no problem when someone does it to me. Some people...well....I won't say anything this time ;)

I like to barter, I mean for example, the guy had a card that sells for 15-22, he wanted 20, I offer 17, he says no thanks. I say ok 20 works, and he ignores me. If someone did it to me, I may say how about we meet in the middle and do 18.50, or something.

if they ignore you no worries just look for the same card on EBAY, it can be had for much less.

seriously? its 3 dollars...he should be happy you even want to buy it...you dont HAVE to give him your money...you could give it to someone else im sure...i have no problem bartering, its the people that offer you $8 when you're asking $20 that deserved to get ignored, not guys like you!

Wow.. you have never tried dealing with me, so you don't know what you are talking about. Sorry I don't buy at OVER eBay.. It may be $3 to you, but that is $3 to buy another PC card.. and I don't low-ball..

I think you should re-read what he said. He's saying that guys like you, offering $17 when the other guy is asking $20.... the seller should be happy. The $3 less shouldn't be that big of a deal.

As for the general theme - Bartering? For sure I do it. Like most people.... If I'm selling, I'll ask what I think is a fair price, but usually put a bit of wiggle room to go down. Same when I'm buying. If I send a message out that says "PM me a price on XXX" I've probably got a price in mind already. If you come back with higher, I'll ask you to go lower :) If the other guy offers what I was thinking, or less, I'll usually just accept the offer.
