Simple question....83-84 OPC
Haw many cards came in a pack of 83-84 OPC? Trying to figure out how many cards total in a box and the set % I might get buying a box.
Thanks, Brian

I don't have the exact number, but I used to buy boxes at the time and you were usually real, real close.
Of course, you could just buy the set outright and it would run cheaper than a vintage box.

Correct, but I'd be at the mercy of the sellers description of the condition of the cards. The reason for buying a box is to get the best possible cards for grading.

That's a great idea since all box's that sit for 20+ years have always been stored in climate controlled environments and I'm sure the gum has not broken down and soaked through half the pack.
These are extreme examples but if you want a great looking set do the work and find a nice one for the price you want to pay. There are many of those sets available and if you want to do a little better buy 2 sets from different people and compare each card then sell off the lesser set.

Plus, you'd still wind up with a box of "typical OPC centered" cards.
'83-84 really isn't a loaded set. High-end examples don't cost much. Go to someone like capsports2000. If he's calling it nm, it is.

Yep, I just broke a pack of 80-81 OPC earlier today. Every card was off centered, and the top edge of each cards had the furry edges. In addition, the gum stuck to the back of one of the cards.
It is fun to break the old packs, but it is risky. the same seller had a pack of 73-74 OPC for sale, but at 140.00 and ungraded, it was a bit too risky for me.

The furry edges aren't that much of a concern. Mostly centering and no stains.
If you go to the PSA website, there you will find an image of the only PSA 10 79-80 OPC Gretzky RC. It has the furry edge going vertical on the right side of the card.

OPC cards weren't so much "cut" as "torn." :)
Can I ask why '83-84 as opposed to another year? The Larmer?

The Larmer...Lindy...
Just a vintage set that had some boxes up on the bay at a reasonable price. Of course there are other years that interest me. But those are higher up on the $$$$$$ scale. 79-80 OPC...Impossible. The Lemieux RC year. Yzerman year.....etc...
