Bitter Roenick picks Hawks to win it all
Jeremy Roenick admitted harboring some lingering resentment over being traded by the Chicago Blackhawks almost 14 years ago, and that's why -- if forced -- he would pull for the Philadelphia Flyers in a Stanley Cup finals series against the Hawks.

He doesn't like the Hawks because of something that happened like a decade and a half ago? Ill have to agree with him though. I think the Hawks will win the Cup this year. They are to strong to lose.

He was the most popular and best player on the team when he got run out of town by Wirtz. Then they trade him for basically nobody. Needless to say it did not sit well with the fans.
Wirtz NEVER wanted to pay any player big $$$$. He would rather trade them for a couple of nobodies that made very little $$$$$.

and it worked both ways too. Other players really respected Roenick and his play and saw how he got taken out of the team. Hard to get any interest from free agents after witnessing that

Look at someone like Dave Keon who won't attend any Maple Leaf functions because of the way he was treated 35 years ago. We sometimes forget that hockey players are people too. Treat them badly and they will remember it for a long, long time, as anyone would.

Same thing happened to Hull in St. Louis. They didn't want to pay him the money he deserved so he was more or less chased out of town. The Blues have sadly never been the same sense then. Even the team that won the President's trophy a few years later lacked a certain charisma.
I agree that the Blackhawks are going to be very tough to beat. They have so much talent up front, and their young guys have stepped it up big time.
