How much Cap trouble are the Blackhawks in after this season?

They're almost a million over the cap just with the guys they have now (as they have 6 players with a cap hit of 5+million next year). What steps will they take in the offseason, Stanley Cup or not?

If they could trade Huet or Campbell, they would. Both of those players are unlikely to get any interest around the league. Would a trip to the minors for Huet work? I don't know.

Sharp, I think, is gone. Probably one of Bolland or Versteeg. You can flip those kinds of players for prospects / draft picks and take back no salary. Sharp + one of the others would clear over 7 million off the books, and get them back under the cap.

one or two of either Sharp, Bolland, Versteeg are gone. My bet would be Sharp ($3.9 mil).

From what I understand Campbell has a list of 8 teams he can be traded to as part of his contract. To trade Campbell they would probably have to give up draft picks/prospects and have to take back someone else with a good size contract.

I think if they find no takers for Huet they put him on waivers and take the $1.875 mil cap hit for the next 4 years. That would save them $3.750 mil for the next 2 years. If he is sent to the minors and need to bring him back they risk the chance of another team picking him up. Then they need to pay half his salary ($2.813 mil) for the remainder of his current contract.

The other option would be to trade Hossa if they can find a taker.

It's going to be fun to watch them wheel and deal in the offseason

the nhl should make some kind of rule that players drafted by the team (kane, toews, seabrook, keith) should have no effect on salary cap

IMO, I dont think Sharp will be gone..well at least not yet. He has been a real key player, and a role model for the younger guys coming into the NHL. I think it will be Bolland that will be packing his bags, in exchange for a draft pick.

Why would you say this just because you like this group of players now. Would you have said this 5 years ago?
