Catching up with Michael Jordan's supporting cast

Everyone know's where and what Mike is doing. But what about ther others?

Michael Jordan is coming back. Er, sort of.

According to ESPN Gamer, 2K Sports has signed the basketball legend to appear on the cover of "NBA 2K11." Jordan likely will be a playable character in the game, and 2K may even sign many of his former teammates and rivals, too -- the better to include playable versions of Jordan's iconic career moments, such as famously hitting a game-winning jumper over Cleveland's Craig Ehlo.

What are Michael Jordan's sidekicks doing these days?

    ALLIES

    Scottie Pippen

    Then: Robin.

Now: Made two-game Finnish league comeback in 2008. Why? Perhaps because he reportedly has lost more than $100 million due to bad investments and business deals.

    Dennis Rodman

    Then: Rebounding savant/proto-Ron Artest

Now: Since retirement, the Worm has dabbled in pro wrestling, D-grade action movies, pro wrestling, a Lingerie Football League commissionership, pro wrestling, marrying Carmen Electra, pro wrestling, divorcing Electra, pro wrestling, "Celebrity Mole," "Celebrity Apprentice" and "Celebrity Rehab." And, of course, pro wrestling.

    Horace Grant

    Then: Be-goggled inside force.

Now: Available for motivational speaking/event hosting gigs at the low, low price of $10,000 to $20,000 per.

    Pete Myers

Then: Shane Falco of Chicago shooting guards.

Now: Shane Falco of Chicago coaches: Current Bulls assistant was twice named interim coach, once when Bill Cartwright was canned, again when Scott Skiles was fired.

    Bugs Bunny

Then: Saving Warner Bros.' box office the world in "Space Jam."

Now: Undergoing 3-D rebranding efforts following ill-fated, late-Aughts rollout of mohawked, anime-looking "unleashed" Bugs. Darkly reimagined Batman? Yes. Darkly reimagined Bugs? No.

    RIVALS

    Craig Ehlo

Then: Ducking MJ's flying fist pump.

Now: Television analyst for Gonzaga basketball.

    John Starks

Then: Just good enough to break NYC's collective heart.

Now: Worked as Slamball head coach; television analyst for New York Knicks. Either way, has seen a lot of basketball-ish action.

    Bryon Russell

Then: World's most famous push-off victim.

Now: Recently challenged Jordan to a charity one-on-one showdown; took on a Jordan look-alike during halftime of an NBDL game. Video games the next logical step.

    LaBradford Smith

Then: Memorably tugged on Superman's cape … well, at least in Superman's twisted mind.

Now: Google search of name comes up "LaBradford Smith Michael Jordan" before "LaBradford Smith." Which is pretty much all you need to know.

    Kwame Brown

Then: Draft bust/comeback anchor/practice chew toy

Now: Still on Detroit Pistons roster. The NBA: Where amazing happens!

I wish ESPN would write a real article on the "where are they now" of MJ's supporting cast instead of this fluff piece. I would rather know what Luc Longley or Bill Wennington or Jud Buechler is doing right now than Bugs Bunny. ESPN you fail me again.

I'm pretty sure ESPN care more about what's happening right now in the NBA than "Where are they now" Chicago Bulls

I just use Wiki to find out about this kind of stuff, like Luc Longley involved in marine conservation. He assisted in the discovery of a new species of shrimp last year and named it after his daughter. Who woulda thunk?

I'm sure they are and it's good that they are, but this is a fluff piece "Page 2" article that was titled, "where are michael's support cast now", so I guess I should not have had any expectations going in and just be happy they wrote about Bugs Bunny who is totally currently what's happening with the NBA.

That's pretty cool. Didn't know Luc is doing that.

I agree, they talk about his cast but I would have liked to see about the real players like B.J. Armstrong, Craig Hodges, Toni Kukoc, Jason Caffey, etc.
