Help Me Decide What Boxes to Buy/Rip Today

I'm heading down to meet a friend for a shellfish festival lunch (had to get that in there) and there is a good hobby store nearby, with great box pricing. I'm having a tough time deciding what I want to get. Keep in mind this is Canadian pricing... they have a special on boxes of 09-10 UD Black at 199.99 a box. Pretty good deal and what I originally had in mind. I can't overlook the 08-09 SPGU boxes at 139.99, 08-09 SPX at 74.99 and this year's 09-10 Ice intrigues me at 99.99. 07-08 H&P are 49.99, another pretty good deal. I think I'm willing to spend just over 300 max. I would be happy to spend under that, but I'm flexible.

What is it that you're looking for? PC hits? Tradebait? Getting your money's worth?

If you want to spend about 300, why not get 1 08-09 SPX, 1 08-09 SPGU and 1 09-10 Ice?

I'd get the Black and a box of H&P !

I'd say two SPGU and one H&P. Black is too much of a hit or miss.

Personally for me i would do some sort of spx/H&P mix.

Black is terrible. Most boxes have 2 rookie lettermen of no-name rookies. Some only have one but you can also get a box with 3. IMO they are basically worthless.

SPGU looks better than in previous seasons but again is very hit or miss. The rookies dont do to well on the re-sale or trading market either and the regular jerseys are the same.

Ice has some huge hits but half the frozen foursomes have been pulled from the product and I cant imagine getting two champions autos instead of hockey ones. We pack warred 2 boxes and got 10 rookies the best being /999 and none of value. A TJ Galiardi auto (sorry Derrick), a champions auto of some one ive never heard of and 4 jerseys of Briere, Timmonen, Franson and colin wilson.

So for my money i would do 6 H&P, 4 spx or a combination of that.

I'd probably stay away from Black. I know they're not on your list but if I were you, I'm going all the 09-10 BTP and H&P I can get.

Yup, it it 401 games on Yonge St (downtown Toronto).


I ended up grabbing a box of Black and a box of SPGU. It was a more expensive day than I thought, I but I'm feeling lucky and wanted to go with a higher gamble!
