Boston Center Kendrick Perkins to miss game 7

Boston center Kendrick Perkins told reporters at Wednesday's media session that he tore two ligaments in his right knee in Tuesday's NBA Finals Game 6 loss to the Los Angeles Lakers and will be sidelined for Thursday's decisive Game 7.

He will undergo an MRI on Friday in Boston to further assess the damage.

Rivers said he'd wait until game day to announce whether Rasheed Wallace or Glen Davis would start. He did suggest that Brian Scalabrine will be activated in Perkins' place.

This will definitely put pressure on Wallace and Davis to play longer minutes and stay out of foul trouble!

Big Key defender out for Boston now, But with Scalabrine playing that does spread the court more since he's a 3pt shooter and also with sheed, will be interesting to see who starts.

Lets be real, Scalabrine isn't gonna see the court being he hasn't played a minute of the postseason

Now the Celtics fans have their excuse for why they lose the title tomorrow night.

Scalabrinie will score the winning basket, by dunking over Bynum and Gasol.

or is this wishful thinking? Anyway, I hope the Celtics do better than they did in game 6.

No they don't, because its not like Bynum is a big help with one good knee

If the Celtics lose the game, so be it. I don't think that they will, they usually bounce back after a bad game. Perkins does clug up the middle and play good defence, but is weak on the offensive end. Having Sheed or Davis in the game, opens up the floor for them. I have not made any excuses for the Celtics all year, they have made it further than anyone thought they would. Win or lose, I hope it is a good game. When the series started, I picked the Celtics in 7. Tonight we find out. Hopefully both teams will get to play hard and it will come down to the wire.
    Good luck to both teams...

Perkins being out is a big factor in why the Lakers secured a mind-boggling 23 offensive rebounds. Had he played, I would bet that the offensive rebounding numbers for the Lakers would've been much lower, and I would even go as far as to say that the Celtics could've made up the 5 points they needed to win the game...that's not too far out to say, is it? Either way, the Celtics are still undefeated in series in which their starting five (Rondo, Allen, Pierce, Garnett, Perkins) are all healthy, so we still have something to smile about.

I'm pretty sure they just lost the NBA Finals, they had a chance to win it in 5 games but couldn't.

The Lakers don't go around saying... Man we are back to back champions with our starting lineup. If Bynum was there in 2008 we would have already 3 peated! Who does that?
